I like the way they laid it out. At least the frame will never rust.

What’s a car from that era?
    $7k.

why does the market place a higher value on the Tacoma? Because they want it. Why do they want it? Because it’s good.

Reliable until you fuck with it. Got a problem with C channel frame? Box it then. Scared of rust? Stop electing politicians who put salt on the road and put your lawn sprinkler under the truck for a bit after you’ve driven in salt or spray it with a hose.

It’s a truck. Body on frame. So it can tow. Haul. Manual. 4x4 with low range transfer case. Affordable.
There is nothing else like that to pick from that has all of that.
Bigger trucks are wider and harder to fit on trails. Jeeps are not trucks and lack the truck benefit. They ride worse due to solid axles.
The only thing better I can think of is possibly a Ford Ranger or most definitely a Jeep Gladiator diesel Rubicon. Which is $50k+. I can’t afford that. The payment would be high. I’ll continue with the Tacoma until I can afford a good gladiator.
Day one of getting into trucks I didn’t know how they worked. The Tacoma has taught me a bit. So now I’ve learned that by getting a cheap base model Gladiator it would be a waste of my time and not to. It would cost a lot to add the features I’d want to it. So it would be better to just buy it properly spec’d straight out of the box. Which again, is $50k+. More than a Taco.

then again who knows. Maybe a regular gladiator or ranger is better and capable enough for now?
On one side, the Taco has a larger following. So more aftermarket parts. Cheaper than some niche parts barely ever made.
But unfortunately still probably nowhere near as cheap as Jeep parts from what I’ve seen. Solid fabricated motor mounts for a Jeep? $50-150. (Polyurethane sleeves) Same exact shit on a Taco? Way more for some reason.
Those who make the parts know people will pay that price so why not charge it then I guess.

Get a car. Go on said car forum. Realize that the vehicle is useless and incapable, with maximum potential mod number of 3. Realize that said forum is boring.

    So many quotation marks.

Reminds me of the people who say things like "experts" and the "sky" is "blue".

So the fact is, Toyota could build the biggest piece of junk and still outsell the competition

Absolutely true. In 45 years of checking oil on numerous cars and trucks this is the only one I’ve have to do tricks with to read the oil level lol.

This is one that's always confused me.....because I've never had an issue with reading the dipstick on my 4.0 or the 2.7s I had. Now the wife's Corolla was kinda tricky until I realized that once you pull the dipstick out, flip it over as the backside is always the accurate side.

A very light scuffing of the stick with Scotch-Brite made a nice improvement. I only scuffed up to the full mark.

I have a 3rd gen 2.7L. Don’t know if its the same stick as the 2nd or 3rd gens V6. Can you tell me which engine you have and precisely how you check your oil? I’ve read various techniques posted. :D

OP never mentioned what lift and tire he has. Really want to know if it's KO2 or Wildpeaks! oh, does he have a pro grille and raptor lights? Those would fix all the problems!
