haha just three Accords, no problem reading the dipsticks that I can remember. 2004 V6, 2012 V6 and now a 2020 2.0 Turbo. Still have the 2004, been reliable cars.

I end putting in about 5.25, accounting for a bit of residual left in the engine. Puts me dead on the high mark.

The real question here is this:

Is the Tacoma's nemesis the Ridgeline, Frontier, or Maverick?

Hard top camper...many more to add+
2019 TRD …added a aftermarket gas tank skid plate…(when you take it off …it is a plastic of some kind) add a cover of any kind and call it a skid plate…is this OK…wish Toyota test there factory gas tank skid plates?
Less then 11,000 miles …my rear brakes would lock up…even while driving ..Toyota dealer said rust…

I do drive on a dirt road with some mud and water puddles…never ever let the rear diff go under water..dirt roads..has a high center points..only where wheels touch goes thru water…
dealer just order a new 3rd member rear end claiming lots of water in the rear end ..and that I should have extended the rear diff up higher? Cost estimated $3,300.00 ..May take two weeks for parts to arrived to Hawaii..cannot air ship due to oils ( consider a hazmats) note just lifted 2.5 six months ago…

I am lookink at getting my Tacoma back in middle of this February? I have NOT test my brakes yet…because when they test drove it…funny noise in the rear end…finding water…in the rear diffs…NOT cover by any warranty due to water intrusion?

Yes the Tacoma is still hunting for gears…WHY? Too bad ? Focus on MPG…and not performance?
    I would have purchase my Tacoma anyways…because of it’s dependability…will I need a OVtune?

I am out of wheels till it gets repaired?
Also note why there are several companies sells bed stiffeners? And why many believe it is needed? …because owners did find ….?

Still I want to believe in Toyota products…but it is getting harder & harder to be loyal…?
Aloha. …owner of several Toyota cars too…

D862F9C9-F015-4FB1-B373-5BDAC6F55F1F.jpgI agree in a few points he has but overall come on man. The Tacoma is the greatest truck out there in terms of turn the key over and over again and she goes.

I bought my first Tacoma in 2005 after having cheap American 90s cars that always broke. I drove that 6 speed manual for 105,000 on original brake pads. Are you KIDDING ME?? The only thing I ever did was tires, and oil changes. Sadly I had the access cab and with a baby in the way needed something different. Like a complete moron I traded it in quickly for a piece of trash Mitsubishi Outlander.. wait, I did what??

I brought it to my mechanic to check it out and he said it was the dumbest trade in he’s ever seen then when he changed the oil the Mitsu the drain bolt broke off.

Long story short, I ended up getting a 2015 Tacoma with 52,000 miles on it. I put 75,000 miles on that in 3 years without ever doing anything. Tires, brakes, oil. Best truck I ever owned.

Sadly, another baby and 2 giant dogs and I had to trade that taco in… but this time I went with a 2014 sequioa and it’s the same Toyota reliability. Unless I become a millionaire some day I’ll drive Toyotas until I die.

My 2010 Frontier Pro-4x doesn't have a premium feel or look, but the attention to detail is surprisingly good and it's been a nice, reliable truck to live with. It replaced my 2006 Tacoma SR5 which was indeed, very sparse and "cheap" in many ways. Of course, the later years of the 2nd gen Tacoma had many improvements and the 3rd gen takes that a step further. That said, I can't see myself owning another 2nd gen Tacoma and if I had to choose between a 2022 Tacoma TRD OR or a 2022 Frontier Pro-4x, I'd buy the Nissan.

Being the original owner of a white 1986 Toyota pickup and a white 2009 Tacoma and still owning both, I will say the paint on my 1986 pickup is doing better then the Tacoma, otherwise the Tacoma’s been great

I agree on the paint. The paint on my 1990 was definitely better than my current Tacoma.
As far as those Toyota "mini" trucks go, Tacomas grew up and out of them. That 1990 22RE was the best all around vehicle I've ever owned, and I've owned more than a few. Not many vehicles are so well built that it can take a direct hit from a 40 ton semi doing 50mph and allow the driver to walk(limp) away.

Quality design and construction is more important than individual parts.

Is that a traffic jam in the boonies? Maybe the lead broke down and jammed the trail?

    Follow the leader?

Kind of reminds me of the Winston Churchill quote about democracy: “democracy is the worst form of government – except for all the others that have been tried.”

Back in my day trucks had superior rust protection.

Yep. The older pickups had frames like bridge girders, but the bodies fell off of them. :)

I have never seen more unitized hub and bearing replacements than with GM vehicles. I had several that needed them replaced multiple times (I was a Chevy parts manager back then). I have never replaced a hub and bearing on a Toyota. Never. We are the first/oldest Toyota dealer in Michigan. We don't even stock wheel bearings here.

When I took a candidate Tacoma to a shop for a pre/purchase inspection, the mechanics asked me if I was considering any other truck models - I said NOPE and they said GOOD b/c anything other than a Toyota sux/has real issues for a 4WD vehicle and since this is all they do/had no incentive to lie to me [i don't live in the area] - I tend to trust that shit..

the paint on my 1997 E36 BMW [Alpine White - non/metallic] was soild - the paint on my 2011 E87 [Spacegrey metallic] is shit - old paint was legit, the new environmentally friendly shit just isn't as good - -
