Howdy All, new here and have some questions i thought maybe the members here could answer. I recently bought a 1999 Prerunner with a 3.4L in it. Really like the truck except i have been having an ongoing issue with it. It has run a bit rough since i got it and got worse. Would fun good when i would fisrt start it cold, but after i would run it a while and shut it off and let it sit a while and the restart it it would run really rough. I bought a code reader and got code showing it had an intermittent miss on cyl 3 & 5 and was running lean on bank 1. I replaced all the plugs and ignition coils and found a large vacuum leak i plugged. Cleared the codes, took it out this morning and it ran fine. Drove it to my buddies and picked him up. started it and idled great and ran just fine. Drove it out of town to fo some muzzleloader shooting then started it up and started home. After a few miles i felt a miss and it started doing the same thing it had been, running rough and loss of power. Came home put the code reader back on it and it is no longer showing Lean, but is showing an intermittent miss on the same 2 cylinders again, 3 & 5. Anyone here able to help me out. Any ifo appreciated. Thanks

Could be your injectors. Swap your injectors around, and see if the missfirers follow the injectors.

Is she using coolant? With cylinders 3 & 5 being next to each other I am thinking maybe a weepy head gasket but you would think that it would be bad all of the time, anyway, there is a test for that. Swapping the injectors around is a good test also and if it is an injector(s) do not get them from Amazon or ebay, Motorwest is the place. LOTS of peeps tried too save some $$$ on aftermarket injectors just to run into other problems.

If your injector swap doesn't move the misfires then I'd suggest compression testing cylinders 3 & 5, and perhaps one other cylinder that is behaving normally as a point of comparison to those 2.
