Tacoma lag

    What makes the 4.0 lag off the line? Feel sometimes I gotta really get on the pedal when merging , etc. btw meant to tag this in 2nd gen group*

    There's a programmed lag, for lack of a better term, in the accelerator pedal. A tune, such as OTT can remove it.

    There are cheap options, like throttle controllers that can eliminate it as well. I have a cheap one, but I'm under no impression that it's a permanent fix. A tune is in my future.

    It lags because it's in too low of a gear to begin with when you "get on" the pedal.
    It's to meet Consumer and EPA Fuel Milage and Emission standards.

    The 4.0 "lags" until it hits about 2,500 rpm.
    It wakes up at 3,200 rpm or so.
