    TIL timing chain(s) == headgasket. Why bother replacing a wear a tear item that will for all intensive purposes cause you to replace the engine once the chain lets go. My second response will be after you come back with "well miles" or whatever card you want, head gaskets rarely "just go bad", sure some makes/models/even specific years are more prone to failure usually due to electrolysis of some flavor (as does not flushing your coolant system since it seems established, why bother doing maintenance, coolant is only bad when it's gone right?) . But with, proper service and maintaining your vehicle, generally isn't an issue. Timing chains, belts, what have you, will fail at some point for sure, just like I've never made it to 200K on 1 set of tires.

    As to who posted about the GM 2500, I almost wanted to post that haha. Pre-2000s, with the crappy (I call it CIS, I forget what the American term is), not only a dime a dozen motor that any farmer can toss in, the older vortecs are relentless un-killable beats. Always been curious if a less cruddy fuel system could bring those MPGs up a scooch. I've owned enough cars/trucks I would have to think realitivly hard to know what the count is/was, but when I worked on those motors they were great. I'll lump the 3800 series into it as well.

    Not set in stone yet but the current buzz is that there will be a redesign in 2024. Some were thinking it was going to be the 2023, but they have already released the pressor for the 2023 and it still remains basically a 3rd gen.

    Not that I'm in the market for a new one, but I hope it won't be a major redesign. IMO all generation Tacomas have been the best looking mid sized and compact trucks - and going back before the Tacoma.

    I don’t think I’d call a Tacoma compact. A current gen Tacoma is the same size as a full sized 1st Gen Tundra.

    That said, I wish they would develop a small pickup with the dimensions of the 1st Gen Tacoma.

    Agreed, I'd consider Tacomas mid-sized. I thought maybe pre-Tacoma pickup trucks were considered compacts. Interesting the current Tacoma is the same size as an early Tundra. Kind of like the new Hondas I see that I think are Accords, but they're Civics.
