Okay after having read everything, i am more confused and lost than ever -_-"

I want to get a lift kit that allows my truck to function normally. I don't want to take it serious offroading, my lift is going to be cosmetic, and functional. So Blistein shocks coupled with an extra leaf spring maybe ?

    3 - 4 Inch lift ?

What sort of tires should i get ? I want tires with an aggressive thread, but not something that would destroy fuel efficency and create horrible road noise.

What sort of rims should i couple these tires with ?

I also want my tires to stick out, so spacers. Where can i get spacers ? what is the max amount of Space in spacers can i get without it becoming a safety issue. Are EBay spacers any good ?

AGAIN I DO NOT OFFROAD THIS IS COSMETIC, but i do tow alot of stuff around. Only offroading i do is when i go ice fishing.

Also is it possible to just get a Leaf Pack / Add a Leaf Spring type thingy, and have spacers to make tires stick out and run everything else on stock ?

What will this do ? will this cause any problems ?

    I drive a 2003 Tacoma Douible Cab V6

    HELP TACOMA WORLD !!!

Light bar and bumper guard, 3/16 steel skid plates for engine, tranny and transfer box, OME 881 springs with 5100 shocks at mid clip. AAL in rear. Positraction rear diff.
I think the easiest way to go would be to add Bilstein 5100 shocks up front set on the lowest ring for max lift. That will add 2.5 inches. You can do an add a leaf in the rear or a one inch block. You can do a Google Search for both as there are several places to get them. The AAL will make the rear stiffer where as the block won't. Wheel spacers also do a search or go to Ebay as many make them. One inch is probably the most you would want to add. You probably are running 16 inch rims and maybe 265/70R16 tires. I would go to a 265/75R16 that's a 32 inch tire and Handcook P265/75R16 have a medium agressive tread. The P series will be cheaper by several $ over an LT series tire.

Kind of the same question as before because im confused after reading all this. I want my double cab 4 cyl to look like the pre runner, height and wheel wise. what would be the best options to go? i dont do much off roading besides the occasional dirt road. lots of freeway driving it sits this high now [IMG] what to do?

Im looking at getting the billys front and rear with a 2" AAL. But im confused with the coils... It says NOT to use aftermarket coils... So the stock ones will work...?

Generally speaking, 5100s are fine to use with stock or aftermarket coils. When used with stock, you can bump-up the spring perch to achieve lift. When used with aftermarket, you should rely on taller/firmer springs for lift rather that the 5100s' pre-load perch.

Bilsteins can get you up to 2.5", so you should look at coil replacement to reach a full 3". Also note that some find the ride a bit harsh when pre-loading their stiock coils that much.

Ok this thread is awesome but I have a question. I recently lifted my 05 dbl cab lb 4x4 with a lift I got on cl. It had a 1.5 or 2" rear block with new u bolts and the front came with the factory Trd sport coil overs with a spring spacer/top plate combo. I love the look, and the back ride is just like stock but the front ride is stiff. I'm not a big fan of the stiff ride up front. Is there something I can do about that? Will the bilstein 5100's offer softer ride or about the same as what I got? I would love to have the soft ride of stock with 2,5" of lift. Thanks for your answers.

Put the spacer top plate on your original coil overs, that should get your original ride feel back. That's the cheapest way at this point. Another option is to replace your original shock with a 5100 set for max. height. Others on here would have to say whether a 5100 is a stiffer ride. Mine felt stiffer but I changed the spring along with the 5100.

Well, I believe I have found the right combo for a stock smooth ride with close to a 3" level lift :) I have a 2" block in the rear which doesn't change the ride at all and what I did with the front is go with the 5100's set at the 1.85" setting with an 1" top plate spacer. I got this all set-up today and man, it rides nice and smooth with no issues. Be sure to extend the abs line though as we got it all done and the abs light was on so we ended up putting about a 5" section of wire on each side. Other than that it is all good and I couldn't be happier. Thought I would share.

5100s on all four, front set to 1.75", rear 1" block (no aal...don't want stiffer ride), 275/70/17 tire. what kind of stance does this give me over the stock? looking for my ride to be level but with about a 2" lift overall. have 06 prerunner trd sport, non tsb.

I'm not sure how I'm gonna kill my leaf pack but tomorrow I am going down to a 1/2" top spacer because my front sits a tad higher than the back which I don't like and the caster they couldn't quite get back to specs because it was a little high up front. Should be just about perfect tomorrow afternoon :)

Because blocks suck. Read the appropriate sections of this Sticky...

"...despite their low cost, block lifts are the least desirable of all rear-end lift methods because they increase axle wrap…which leads to a myriad of other problems including broken blocks, broken drive shafts, busted shocks, shackles, leaf springs, etc... this is the most undesirable rear-end lift option. Anything else would be better."

    Unfortunately, spacers aren't much better.

    Here is what it says

["Having said all of this, a small block lift (1″) doesn’t appreciably increase axle wrap and associated risks, and many Tacoma owners have no problems with 2″ block lifts."]

The problem with axle wrap really starts with the taller lift blocks. If it did become a problem just add a U bolt to the spring pack.

If i go with the 3" Spacer lift with the coil and AAL, Will i be okay running my stock TRD shocks for awhile? Eventually i plan on getting 5100s or OME shocks all around but for now can i get away with just Coils and AAL?

Also will i need extended brake lines or a diff drop kit?

The ride will suffer because the stock shocks are not designed to dampen to stiffer spring rate.

So besides a stiff ride, will i be good on my stock TRD shocks until i get some more cash together and get some billys or OMEs.

Do i need Extended brake lines or a diff drop kit?!!!

Well you could top out the rear shocks if you are running more than 1.5" of lift in the rear. Brake lines also depends on how much rear lift you have. Diff drops are useless on 2nd gens. These are all very very common questions.
