What do you mean top out the rear shocks? I dont plan on really doing any major flexing... Besides maybe accidently going over a curb or some mudhills... I really dont plan on getting my truck off road at all.

Quick question - I'm looking to raise my truck 1-2" only. Stock 31x10.5 wheels. My leaf pack is flat. Going with an All-Pro tube bumper and winch setup. Based on my minimal lift requirements, putting a canopy on the back (extended cab), extra weight on the front end, what do you guys recommend? I don't want to cheap out, but I also don't want to break the bank. I don't care if I have a rough ride or a smooth ride, so long as it's functional.

I'm figuring that since my leafs are flat, once the canopy is on I'll have negative arch. I'm new to all of this and I'm contemplating if I have the ability to do this stuff myself, but I need to figure out what lift to run first.

I've looked (maybe not hard enough), but I'm having difficulty finding information on my minmal lift requirements. I don't want a body lift, and I prefer not to use spacers as my suspension is pretty worn out already.

    Thanks guys!

Easiest route get bilstein 5100 on all four corners set front to 1.75 notch as for the rear 1" block not recommended or new leaf pack

Should I look for new springs? Will be going with a winch and some skids, so another 175lbs or so. I'm looking at OME springs - possibly the HD ones vs the middle ones (can't remember the spring numbers, 882?)

Good to know, thanks! With the 4WD I should net out less lift with the additional weight. I understand that the OMEs will sag a bit once they settle in as well.

The new OME coils so not sag..the part number ends in X.

So I'm thinking of going with the full EMU lift kit from Toytec with the 883 springs and sport shocks. Looks like a good package. Any thoughts? Should I use the soft shocks instead? Any other vendors to look into for deals??

I’m a jeep guy. This is my first Tacoma. I’m very impressed all around. Not looking to build a rock crawler, but would like to run 285’s and acheive a balance of suspension articulation with good daily drive and handling. I’m worried that reducing downward travel to an inch is going to be a problem. I’m also concerned that without creating more space by lifting, the 285’s are going to be stuffed in the wheel wells.

Get some uniball ucas and extended travel coilovers. That will give you lift without sacrificing as much downtravel.

Why do you say diff drops are useless on 2nd gens. Don't you still want to keep the axles as close to stock angle as possible?

This thread has lots of good info, including cad drawings showing that the diff drop changes the angles by less than a degree. It also has been known to cause some vibes. It also rotates the diff so that the oil drains away from the pinion bearings .

I want to lift my truck 1.5" to 2.5" but I don't really under stand the 2" in the front and 1" in the back. Why isn't it 2" in the front and 2" in the back wouldn't that be level? I just don't want my nose in the air and my assdraggin down the road. Not really looking for hight but an improved towing rating. any help is appreciated :)

The truck is not level from the factory. The rear is higher than the front.

Rear lift isn't going to improve your towing capacity.

You would need uca's if you want your alignment to be in spec.

so obviously i have no idea what im talking about when it comes to this kind of stuff. still learning. But what kind of effects will it have on my truck if my alignment is not in specs? will it damage anything?

Your caster would be too low, which leads to a wandering feeling.
