Alright last one, I want to have about an 3 inch lift to run FJ TRD rims with BFG 265/5-16s. Everything is stock, but as I previously said my truck sits lower than most other Tacomas I see, 2005 DCSB with camper. This is what I currently plan on purchasing just so I can get the rims on the truck, I want basically a wide stance without being too low or too high. Can someone please double check, tyvm

    -Bilstein ride adjustable 5100s
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Toyota-Taco...fits=Model:Tacoma&hash=item5aea649497&vxp=mtr
"Note: Front Shocks Do not come with any "Stem Bushings"
and they will have a Stamped Steel "Black" lower spring plate and "Black" dust cap
    "
    What does that mean?

-Toytec rear AAL -And in the near future, not too soon. OME springs I just really need the first two to get the rims on

Forgive me for not reading entire thread but I just purchase a tx double cab 4x4 12tacoma trd and would like to lift it 3".
    1. What is the best way to achieve this cost efficient without ruining ride quality. On my jeep I had to buy shocks also for 3" lift, same for Tacoma?
    2. What's the best priced kit avaiable
    3. Is their any other mods needed to accommodate thev3" lift transfer case drop pitman arm ect.
Thanks guys new to forum excited to build Tacoma. Big plans

    1. Bilstein 5100s or OME 3" kit
    2. Spacers are best priced, but not recommended.
    3. If going over 2.5" of lift, you may need aftermarket upper control arms to get your caster in spec

Can't find this anywhere, maybe its just a stupid question. If I lift the rear (OME dakar leaf pack w 2 1/4" lift), do I have to buy new rear shocks too?

Okay, I want to put a 2" lift for the front and 1.50" lift for the rear. In doing all of that, will these distances put a bad strain on any of the differentials and front end components. Also, can I still keep the shocks that came with the truck? Any advice is really helpful.

To anyone that is new to TacoWorld and thinking about doing a lift. Read through this thread and the forum to get some amazing information. Also, listen to everyone here and do it right the first time, don't try to cut corners to save money along the way. I speak from experience as before I joined TacoWorld I went out and bought some "lift on a budget" items. I have now found that the money spent on these items was wasted and to do it correctly actually costs more than if I had done it right the first time! i.e. - I bought some billet aluminum spacers that were half the price of spidertrax spacers; I had to remove them and install the spidertrax; the cheap ones didn't allow the wheel to sit centered and could never get a smooth ride. Since the spidertrax it's like glass on the highway

I could go on about the two other costly mistakes I made to save money but I think you get the idea. Take your time, get the properly made parts and do it right the first time!!!!!

I hope this saves someone the same BS I caused myself.

3 inch OME lift kit, rear diff breather mod, cb install, sliders, brute force fab front end.
never forget to recheck everything after about 100 miles..I recommend putting a "torque" line on the bolts so you can see if they moved.

What brand of spacers were they? Hope nobody here has had a bad rep with the all-pro hub centric spacers...

I know - these 2 are pretty much mutually exclusive, but I thought I'd ask. I tow a popup camper and put a lot of stuff in the bed. My 2012 DC TRD Off Road pretty much bottoms out with the 350lbs or so tongue weight as well as ice chest, 12 gals of water, firewood, generator, etc in the bed.

I'd like a setup that does the following:
    - Drives good on road
    - Handles towing of the popup and gear in the bed without bottoming out
    - Is good and flexy for off roading (after unhooking the camper)
    - Looking to get about 3 or so inches of lift and run 33" or so tires

Am I looking at airbags to accomplish this, or is there another option that won't bottom out while towing and won't rattle my fillings loose?

It seems that I would need much stiffer leaves in the rear for towing, but that's contrary to off roading.

Cost is a factor, but I'll wait a couple of years to save up for the right suspension. I've done this on other vehicles and want to do it right the 1st time rather than throwing my money away on junk that does not work or meet my needs. The difference this time is that the popup is a new addition, so I'm trying to figure out the best all around option.

Tents are great for camping until you get kids and pass the big 40! After we spent our 1st night in the camper, I won't go back :D

    Thanks!

    OME (Old Man Emu)
885s will give you 2.5" to 2.75" up front
Dakar leafs can handle the weight and work well both on & off road (my 190 lbs standing on the rear bumper lower it around 5/8") and give you around 3" in the rear.
