hey guys... so just got a 07 trd, the guy has 265/75/16 on it. like them, but the rub just a little bit (mud flaps are off) plan on doing some off-roading, so this may be a problem?

My question is with leveling kit, (putting 5100's in the front) fix this for me? ... Think i read somewhere to set them at 1.75, is that right? .. Any input appreciated, new here, just learning bout my truck. thanks

I was gonna go with this^^^

but after reading through some threads, I think I'm ready to pull the trigger on this...

Complete Old Man Emu suspension for 2005 & UP Tacoma
    Includes:
    - (2) Front OME 90000 sport shocks (Replaces the OME N140S front shocks)
    - (2) Front coils-885 coils for D-Cab and additional front weight

Add top plate spacers in drop down below for a full 3" front lift with 884 and 885 coils
    Rear
    - ToyTec standard 2" add-a-leafs. Comes with (2) new center bolts
    - (2) Rear 60091 Nitrocharger Sport Shocks (Replaces N182 shocks)
    - (1) OME trim packer to be installed on the driver side to help level your Tacoma side to side.

In addition, I've been to some tire shops and one said they did NOT recommend putting 285/75/16 on my stock TRD OR rim, because the tire will crown. Are they correct and is it a big deal? Could I lower the air pressure to prevent wearing out the tire too quickly?

If I buy the FJ trail team replicas...will that eliminate the crowning issue AND will I still need to buy wheel spacers?

I apologize for flooding this thread with so many questions...I just want to make sure I have everything I need

Trail teams do not have the same offset as trd sport wheels. Trd sport wheels are +38 or thereabouts.

The trail teams wheels have the idea specs for fitting 285s. Will still need to trim though.

I should get my OME lift with aal tomorrow...gonna install myself...does it matter if I do the front or rear first?

I don't have much help available tomorrow and the rear seems easier, so I figured I'd start with the rear and save the front for Sunday when I have some help available.

With no suspension experience and just two people watching/handing tools/making sure I didn't kill myself I did my lift in about 5 hours one day. However, I started with the rear too as, like you, it seemed easier to me leaving more time to fuck around with the front if I had trouble (and I did).

^what he said. I would have a spare jack (mine broke doing my lift), extra jack stands (at least 4 anyway), a center punch (used to line up the eyelet on the front struts with the LCA), air tools, full socket set, lots of WD-40/PB Blaster or a custom mix of 50/50 ATF/Acetone.

What? ATF/Acetone you say? :D A buddy sent me this, and I need to make up a batch. lol

I have a rear leaf question, that may be stupid but I'm gonna ask it anyway. Can I replace my weak-ass rear 3 pack on my 2012 OR with the 4 pack off of a sport or SR5. If so would it be worth it?

Thanks, I'm just sick of not being able to hawl anything, and the dealership isn't helping. I plan on getting a lift when I need new tires and will change everything but until then I need a fix. It's a shame, I pay $32,000 for a truck that can't even hawl my 14 foot boat without bottoming out on bumps.

ok quick question.. when reinstalling the new front struts/coils back onto the truck i keep reading that it takes some weight and some prying to get the lower strut mount back into mounting location... would you be able to use a spring compressor to loosen the tension on the spring and get the lower mount to align easier? or is that not possible?

You won't be able to fit the coilover assembly back in with spring compressors on it.

Use an inverted bottle jack under the fender to push down on the top of the UCA. I managed to do mine without that, but I swore A LOT and called it many names.

that makes sense now that i think of it that way

thanks for the heads up that seems a lot easier than pushing and prying

im puting in my 3 inch ome lift this weekend with 883 coils and dakar leaf packs with light racing upper control arms. i was wondering with the new ucas there fully adjustable. and i want to move the wheel center forward to not have to trim as much on the cab. what should i set my new upper control arms too to acheavie this mind u that with the new arms setting the arms at 0 will actually acheave +2.0 degrees of caster.
