Ok I got the leafpack and its 2". the stocks are 1-1/2" and i have 1/2" over hang... Seems like the math would allow for it to line up...

I have a 2000 Tacoma SR5 4x4. Shocks have been replaced recently with OEM parts. The thing is, when I go to the beach and drive out on the sand I get a little "hop" once in a while driving. I would like to be able to drive over the whoopdee doos a little faster.
I am assume a stiffer spring rate, maybe I am wrong.
I want to keep the stock ride hide, just a little more beefy.

    Thanks for the help

    Hi all,

New to trucks and got my first Taco recently. Still learning so bear with me.

I have a 14 DCSB with TRD off-road package. It came with Bilsteins. My question is if I am wanting to lift 3" can I adjust the Bilsteins or do I need coils or different springs? Are there any springs that would allow a lift and work along with my Bilsteins that I already have? I see a lot about OME + 5100's so I'm just wondering if I can go that route since I already have the 5100s. If so is this a recommended lift or would coilovers be the way to go? I know coil overs are great because they are easy to install and adjustable but if I can save some money by using the Billys I already have to achieve a good suspension setup id prefer to go that route.

Thanks for the help, coming from Subarus so I really only know about lowering the car with coils...

Cliffs notes forrmula says will work... Ride same it will not be. Stiff say some.... Others say better than stock. progressive aal plus 5100 work. Load of pay increase no..... Load better handle indeed.

I dont think your truck has 5100's (adjustable) on it now. They come stock with Bilsteins but not 5100 bilsteins. You could get some 5100's and adj those or get new springs, or get new spindles (Maxtrac). If you raise the 5100's to 3" it will probably ride a little rough and might be hard to align properly. Theres a bunch of different options though. Spindles allows you to keep all your stock components and it all stays the same geometry (rides great and easy to align)but raises the truck 4". There's a whole lot of info on this site. I would look around (check out the Maxtrac thread) and see which option suites you best for your needs. Hope this helps.

So I'm getting a bilsteing adjustable lift kit with the 5100's on my 2006 TRD, are you talking about those 5100's being stiff at 3" or the 5100's that are stock? I was wanting to go with a 3" lift at an affordable price without comprimising the smooth ride (mostly for mall crawling; with the occasional off-roading).

The 5100's adjustable lift kit (along with an upgrade in tires/rims) was the only thing I was planning on getting..now you're making me nervous lol

I just wanted to run this by a few 'experts in the field'

    Right now I'm looking at:
ICON Extended Travel Front Coilover (3" I believe)
Any brand of Uniball UCA's (they're all the same right?)
For this example I'll say ICON or camburg UCA
    ICON 3-leaf AAL
    ICON 2.5" Rear Reservoir Shocks

This should balance out my truck to 3" in the front and 1.5" in the rear

I couldn't care less if they were all from the same manufacturer or not, but I'm looking for a weekend warrior suspension with a nice in-town setup.

I also have to thank sdhqoffroad for all the help they've given me on suspensions in general. Real great people to work with.

I have a 05 reg cab 4x4 and am getting the frame replaced per frame rot. Looking to upgrade suspension parts. Not looking for lift because I don't want problems down the road. Toyota will install for free. Just looking for a little better quality or should the new stock parts be ok.

Ok that was a long read. I just wish my reading comprehension was better so I could understand some of what I just read. So here's the deal, I have a '14 TRD OR. It is my only vehicle so I really would like to keep a smooth ride. It will have a lot of highway traveling and an occasional off road ride at my camp. I also have a pop up camper trailer and a utility trailer that I tow. I am not looking to go up 3" or anything crazy. I am mostly looking to improve the look and function. So from what I have read I am thinking that I should go with Bilstein 5100 on all 4 corners. And now through more reading here I should consider a AAL due to the fact that I tow and haul stuff around. Am I finally understanding things??

Oh yea and a 5mm spacer on driver front due to the lean???

I'm pretty new here, and have read through this thread a lot. I think have a simple question. I have a 2013 double cab sr5. I'm looking for a slightly lifted look. Would 5100's all around work for this? And what would be a good setting for the front? I think I understand the rear will stay the same if just adding 5100's.

in preference would you rather have the Sway Away coil overs or the all pro coil overs

Is Lowrangeoffroad.com a good trustworthy site to order from?

I'm currently running a 2" OME Shocks Lift Kit with the AAL and 884 coils and everything else is stock. In the future I want to go up another inch for clearance and looks. What would be my best option? I was thinking I'll do the 3/4" top plate spacers in the front and Dakars in the back but that wouldn't give me anymore lift in the back would it?
