I'm wanting to put some 5100 billys all the way around on my truck. And would like some thoughts on what to set them at. What you like or don't like about them. And would I need any other parts to go with them. Also give me some wheel and tire recomendations. And would love to see someone with wider than standard tires. Please put pics thanks.

Well I have a stumper for you all!

I want to do the bilstein leveling kit adjust it up for 2.5 inches and do a 1 inch rear block and rear bilsteins also. I already ordered my wheels the FJ cruiser SE wheels 16x7.5 inch with a 4.75 inch back space or +15 offset with some 285-75/16 tires

Now im debating going higher and do the RCD 4.5 inch lift and run the same FJ cruiser SE wheels 16x7.5 inch with a 4.75 inch back space or +15 offset with some 285-75/16 tires. No one can tell me if the wheels will work or not.. Called RCD direct said a 16x8 with 4.5 works, which is honestly already equal to my wheel set up. But I just cant see biting the bullet for that much cash flow for a kit,

As I think about it though and have looked at the drive angles and everything involed with the RCD kit everything(axles, tierods, swaybar) is level and factory spec. Im worried about just with the billy's the angles are going to be too harsh and take out the ball joints and cv axles quicker. Yes I know they have UCA's but thats $550 anyway..So what can anyone tell me or advice wise??

with the 2.5 inches i dont think you will be putting a whole lot of stress on cv's and ball joints

can you back that up with proof? pictures from the front with drive line angles to see how pararell the axles are and vertical the ball joints are?

    5100's @ .85, Eibach Springs w/ top spacer, 1.5'' block in rear, 275x18 Nitto's
There's a ton of useful info here. I've got an 08 TRD DC that I bought 3 months ago. I was told it had a factory installed lift. I was never curious about it until now. I see a spacer in the back but can't see anything up front. It sits on 275x70x18 MT Baja ATZ's and I've never had any rubbing. I would like a better ride.

    1) Would I be ok just installing the 5100 billi's?
    2) I hear some noise when coasting around the front diff, do I need the diff drop?
    3) If I do these two things, would I have to upgrade the UCA's?

Can someone explain how the 5100's are better than a spring preload spacer?
I have searched a ton and haven't found anything explaining it, just everyone saying the 5100's are better.
Unless the shock itself is longer, it appears they both do the same thing.

I agree with your assessment about the apparent similarity.

The best answer I've seen was written by someone who tore apart a stock shock and found that it had progressive valving - softest at the middle of the shock, with increasing resistance as the shock neared the end of it's travel.

Now, if you put in a preload spacer, you've pre-set the shock into the range of its greatest resistance - and thus set yourself up for a poor ride.

However, I'm not sure that applies to ALL shocks, or only the TRD shocks.

Have you heard of using a tuff country 3" lift and the adjustable 5100's? For instance, making the front end 4" by using the 3" spacer and adjusting the the 5100 to 1" instead of 0"? I heard that any more than 3" will put to much strain on the half shafts? Any info would be great, thanks!

Okay, I've done a lot of reading here and I'm still a bit confused what would be my best options.

I have a 2005 regular cab 4x4, bone stock. I have the non TSB 3 leaf spring pack and run 245/75R16.

I drive in a lot of deep snow and a lot of FS roads and haul my 700 lb ATV on a 5x10 trailer quite a bit.

I want to run 265/75R16's and have a more ground clearance for off road travel. I don't really wheel in my truck( I have an ATV I beat on for that), but I do drive a lot of FS roads in the mountains hunting and fishing. I would also like my truck to have a better stance and ride better in off road situations.

My original thoughts were Blistens all the way around, set to 1.75 in the front and a 1.5 wheelers add a leaf in the rear. Though, after a little more reading, I am a bit worried about my stock coils. I am thinking maybe I should just go ahead and buy some 884 OME coils and set the blistens at 0. I would like to do this right the first time and not have to do it again or cause any issues down the road. Then again 2" seems to be borderline for needing UCA's and I am really not looking to spring for them.

    Thoughts?

    Hardwater,
From everything I have read and for what you are wanting to do, I think an OME suspension setup is your best bet.

It looks as if I should definitely go with OME 884 coils, I really don't know if I need the diff drop, I am sure it wouldn't hurt though. I am thinking I could do the blistens, AAL and coils for 100$ less than the OME set up and I think I just may go that route.
