I'm in search of a 5 or 6 inch lift for my 1st gen 4x4 tacoma and the only one I'm seeing in my price range is the rough country but I don't trust the spindle extenders for the kit. Do y'all have any good recomendations for a reliable 5-6 inch lift? Doesn't have to be top of the line, just reliable and cost efficient.

If I just want to level the front out would I just go with 5100s ?

Hey guys. I'm looking to armor up and level out my DCSB. I want to get a plate bumper up front (about 130 lbs), no winch for now. Would OME 885s with 90021 be enough? I dont want a bro lift, just a small lift and keep the front relatively close to rear height. Dont plan on tossing on huge tires either.. 265/75r16 max.

Also, I plan to also add sliders, rear plate bumper and camper shell later... can I get away with the stock TRD sport rear for now? Should I just upgrade the shocks to match the front? Do I need to lift the rear to compensate for the front lift? Itll be a while before I load up the back of the truck but it's already fairly jumpy with the stock setup as is.

Go 886 for your coils front w ome front shocks.
Medium Dakar rear with ome rear nitro sports
    You’ll increase suspension travel and 265 75 16 will look great. Even 255 85 16
886 will handle the extra weight w no sag. And you can add a winch later.
I went 888 because not adding winch or bumper. Perfect.

You will have a little rake when empty and your bed will level out at ~ 500# payload.

I reached out to HS and one thing they pointed out that I hadn’t even thought of is my truck is 2wd so I’m about 200lb lighter around the front. They think it’ll get about 2-2.25 inches out of 885s with a plate bumper.

With a good deal of weight. 885 will begin to sag. 886 won’t.

So if you go for the cheaper option and put Bilstein 5100's on the front, what else would you need up front, and then what would be the best option to level out the rear? Or would you even need to do anything to the rear? Currently I'm running a Rough Country spacer leveling kit up front.

    Need a little advice...

Been reading this suspension thread for a few weeks now, trying to figure out which option to get. I'm looking to do a 3" lift thats pretty much a swap out.

From everything I've read, I've decided on 5100s for the front and ToyTech Boss for the rear. I don't have a heavy bumper atm so I was going to use a 600lb coil instead of the 650 - or will the 650 give me a higher front? Don't want that... Here is the kit I'm looking at. Also looking to add the 1" body lift.

    https://www.bilsteinlifts.com/shop/toyota-tacoma/2005-2015/ultimate-lift-kit-for-2005-up-tacoma/

Does anybody have any experience with this lift?

I do some light off roading so not wanting to use spacers. I don't mall crawl and I don't want to install junk. I need to make a decision quick because the stock tires I have on now are about to eat shiz...

    Thanks in advance!

    Not much stock left.
I would go with 700# coils. There isn’t enough difference not to.

    Stock right now :(

Kept reading and now I'm torn again...

    Looking at this. https://www.bilsteinlifts.com/shop/toyota-tacoma/2005-2015/3-lift-kit-with-bilstein-5100-coilovers/

Was also considering 6112s with 5160s but those kits are expensive...

Am I missing anything? Id like to achieve 3". I just recently read on here that Bilstein recommends 5100's to be paired with stock springs but they don't want you to max out the clips - so how can you achieve 3" while using stock springs?

Side note, everyone with fox rears w/ resi's remembering to check their hose fitting orientation periodically?

I've got a 1st gen 4x4 3.4L V6 TRD. Right now the front coils are Moog and the shocks are Billstein 4600s (OEM). The General Spring HD leafs in the rear are way too heavy duty for my needs and they aren't left right specific so it has a horrible lean. How should I change my setup to give the best ride quality and an ability to haul up to 300-400 lbs in the bed when hauling a dirt bike? I do have air helper springs.

I was thinking of getting Deaver J59 with one leaf added, but even with 0 leafs added, the J59 is 1.5" taller than stock. This implies my stock down travel of ~4" would be reduced to perhaps 2" of down travel with J59+1 leaf. Losing half my down travel seems really bad. Is my understanding correct? I also don't want to lift the rear higher without also addressing the front, as I don't want rear high/front low.

    What should I do?

So, I'm confused. OME 882 and 883 coils provide 2.75" of lift. The 882 is longer but not as strong. The 883 is shorter but stronger. I've read many threads here and on other forums, and been on different sites that sell the coils. Some say the 882 is meant for heavy loads like a winch and bumper, others say that is wrong, the 883 is for heavy loads. Which is it?

5100's or Eibach Pro-Truck Shocks are sufficient to level the front with the OE spring, but my suggestion would be to get the matching rears to of whichever you choose in order to benefit from the improved ride quality and functionality.

additionally, if you add a front spring to it, you'll get back some bump travel improving the ride and capability even further.

Hey how much lift can I get away with before needing UCA's and/or diff drop kit?

If the spring is clocked correctly, My second gen was getting a full 3" out of our pro-truck-lift spring and shock on the second clip with OE upper control arms before armor. There was no axle bind, and I've been punishing my axles with no issues thus-far. The biggest issue is caster/camber adjustment. You'll want an arm that allows/compensates for it.
