I started a separate thread on this but perhaps I’ll get a better response here:

I’m beginning the journey towards lifting my 2019 Tacoma. I’m going to be honest and say it, I’m picky and don’t like to do things twice when it can be done right and done once.
I’ve been asking around the Portland area for lift kit options and keep getting quotes on Toytec BOSS. Even the dealers around here sell overpriced Toytec packages.
Anyone know why the off-road shops default to offering that set up? Anyone else experience this? Seems like I’d see more trucks with that setup if they were as popular as the shops make them sound. Searching the forum here I see more people taking them off then putting them on. Think it’s the profit margin on them?
I’d prefer to go with ADS all around, but am having challenges finding shops that will do it.

Must be a West Coast thing. I have gone to two local shops and they both immediately went to Toytec. I asked why and for their thoughts on Bilstein 6112/5160, Icon, Fox and Kings. Like I didn't exist and it was back to ToyTec. I just left and have talked to local suspension shop to do an install on whatever I purchase, including ECBS.

It's a pretty straight forward install for ADS and most suspension setups at home. A few tool purchases and a handful of hours over a weekend and it's done.

That’s so interesting. I’ve been trying to get in touch with a shop that sounds like they do installs all the time, but don’t carry the products. Seems like apart from installing myself, that’s the best option.

I’m still debating going that route. Problem is my truck barely fits in the garage, so unless I can do it all in one weekend(with two kids and wife being okay with no dad) I’m not sure it’s my smartest decision.

    Good afternoon gentlemen,

I have somewhat of a somewhat similar dilemma with wanting to lift my Tacoma but do not want to replace the fox suspension that my taco currently carries. I have read several threads about why is the point in adding spacers to the suspension. I would like to know is there anything out there that can compliment the fox suspension and still add the desired 3" lift.

Anyone have an ICON Stage 4 installed on their Taco? Did you install it yourself?

No good way to do it. You can probably get $1500-$1700 for your Fox and that would take you a long ways to a 2 ½” lift.

Thanks for this info. The more I think about it, the more I’m convincing myself to install on my own. Enjoy your new suspension.

First of all congrats on joining the club. I would love to help you with this bu since I’m also in unfamiliar territory, I would not know what to suggest to you. I have talked to some local shops and I have apparently shot myself in the foot since I own a TRD pro. I would have to replace my whole suspension to get the lift I want. I would say to you, if you do t own a Pro and have the money to spend, then go with the common ones like blistien or icon but you would need to get both. Demanding in the coil overs you get, may give you a lean.

I had more than just the suspension done, but price seemed very fair and a loaner, if you want. You'll have to talk to Monroe for a price.
Also, my truck turned out awesome. I have nothing but good things to say.

    I’d like some advice.

I have a stock 2019 TRD OR that’s primarily a commuter and Lowe’s/yard work truck. I want to do something about the nose dive while braking and add some payload capacity (probably AAL) for hauling lumber and stuff occasionally. I don’t plan to do serious Off-roading nor do I have time for serious over-landing. I mainly got the OR for the cement color and some options an SR5 didn’t have.

I’d be okay with around a 2-2.5” total lift but don’t plan to increase tire size beyond 265’s anytime soon. I’m probably adding a roof/bed rack system to support gear and longer boards on top when I need it, but not hundreds of pounds of static weight.

What suspension lift would be best suited for this use? I’m not interested in blocks or spacers.

Picked up some toytec 2" spacers on stock coil overs (because from what I read tacos don't have struts). Looking to level out front but looking for advice on what I'll need for the back. Have a mid rise shell that adds a little weight back there, but not really carrying a lot of load or anything.

Also swapping to 265/75/16s from a 255/70/16 for a little more gc out of the tires. Any advice is greatly appreciated as I'm a total noob in this Dept, but need a bit more gc to get on our family property.
