I always say go with a custom tuned quality shock set up like ADS, King or Fox.
But you have to be 100% honest with the shock tuner. So many people say they want to bomb the high desert whoops when in reality it’s a daily driver that goes camping once a summer.

Great suspension isn’t cheap and luckily the Tacoma platform has been sorted (unlike my platform). So almost all of the secrets are unlocked.

If I had a 2019 Tacoma and wanted to keep it relatively stock but wanted the best of all worlds, I’d call up ADS and have a set of coilovers and rear shocks tuned for what I my type of use and get the comp adjusters. So I could dial it up or down depending wether or not I was loaded, unloaded off-roading or commuting.

Yeah im def not offroading. Mine is a daily driver that will only go offroad once in awhile on some decently maintained gravel or dirt roads for fishing or camping

I just recently purchased a 2015 Tacoma with a Toytec / Old Man Emu 3” lift. 285/85/17 tires. From checking the vin # with Toyota and it looks like the Tacoma came with P245/75R/16’s. The tire calculator shows that the speedo is waaaaay off. Does Toyota do speedometer calibrations ?:fingerscrossed:

Anyone running this lift kit? Was planning on getting ICON billet UCA's as well. Want to be able to slap some BFG 285/75/16's on my 2019 TRD OR.

I have bilstein 5100s up front with Eibach coils on the stock notch and only got 2” of lift out of it I’m wanting to go a full 3”. What are good options? Should I move up to the 3rd notch or get longer springs?

I kicked the door down and got some Tough Dog 40mm 9 stage adjustable shocks. They will give you the lift you're looking for, have some adjustability to let you dial in the ride for on/off road, good off road performance as well.

I spent $1200 between the assembled fronts/rears, Headstrong AAL, ICON sway bar relocate spacer and (used) front / rear bump stops. I also did the install myself with some help.

I'm happy with the kit. Definitely a good DD suspension with enough modularity to adjust to my few off road escapades.

I'm currently the only Tacoma with the kit, though. Lol

Hello Everybody, I have read through this entire discussion and want to thank everyone for all their knowledge. I am a noob, this will be my first time lifting any truck that I have ever owned. I apologize in advance to anyone if I may be taking attention away. @ Snaeper, your input has helped a lot. I have not been able to find many people with similar circumstances.

This is my life right now.... (side note, picture in my Media shows 200lbs worth of equipment in bed, excluding shell)

Been looking for someone that may resemble my circumstances. I would really appreciate any/all advice from.

    2016 V6 SR5 ACLB RWD. 265/70/16 Michellins
    95%Work Truck/5% camping
250lb shell, give or take another 150 to 350 lbs of tools/equipment every and any given day.

Have talked to reputable shops in socal area, as well as Head-Strong Offroad (Marie) and a couple of socal guys from this forum.

I'd like to cross off one thing first... I am not looking for anything more than 1.5" to MAX 2" of lift upfront. Bilstein 5100 all around and OME coils 2884.
Shop #1 told me to def get ucas because of the stress on other parts of suspension. Shop #2 told me 2" or less I do not need ucas... I asked "If the front is lifted and sustains the lift at 1.75" are you 100% telling me that I DO NOT need UCAs?" And again he said, correct.

Agree or disagree with either of the above statements?

Suspecting the guy at shop #1 was trying to upsell because he went along with whatever I spewed out of my mouth, and did NOT explain as much as guy from shop #2. I have customers in my field of work and I explain why I am worth their money/time because I am knowledgeable and worthy of my profession.

    Rubbing
    Alignment
Down Travel (UCAs w uniballs vs stock)
    Caster
    Camber
Every imaginable concern, experience, thought, opinion/fact.

*** I am all for preventative maintenance and longevity.
UR OPINION ON THIS ^ IS AGAIN MUCH MUCH MUCH APPRECIATED

Heavy Duty leaf pack w/ extended length shocks.... quoted at 2" with constant 660lbs of weight. With my constant but fluctuating weight, will they settle in over time to around 1.5" ????

Medium Duty???... 2" with no weight in back

In a perfect world I'd like to get as close to a level lift as possible while always maintaining at least 300lbs, max 600 lbs, and everything between.

Your insight and knowledge will be getting me closer to letting go of a lot of frustration and about 43 tabs open on my browser.

Thank you for taking time out of your day to read this. I appreciate any help you have to offer.

    THANK YOU!

I can only speak about the uca. You don’t need new ucas under 3”. I had a ‘17 with 3” spacers and it was perfectly fine. I have bilsteins on the 3rd notch on my ‘10 and it’s perfectly fine with stock ucas. Sounds like the 2nd shop is not trying to take your money for unneeded things.

Looking for advice with help choosing between the following lift kits for the wife's 2012 DCSB Sport (this is 100% totally street driven & only has 50,000 miles on it). Thinking of doing this as a Christmas present.

    3.5" Rough Country w/ lifted struts & N3 shocks https://www.roughcountry.com/toyota-suspension-lift-kit-742c.html?find=2012-toyota-tacoma-4wd-73778
I have been quoted by a local dealer Toyota Offroad shop $1500 installed (includes alignment)

2.5" from Headstrong: OME Coil / Bilstein 5100 Kit - (HS05BK-1) with the 2885 coils, struts assembled, HS 3 leaf aal https://www.headstrongoffroad.com/store/p440/OME_Coil/Bilstein_5100_Kit_-_(HS05BK-1).html
This I would be installing on my own & taking somewhere to have the alignment done. Would I need to add the control arms? When are these needed & what is recommended?

Anything that I should be concerned with or consider with either choice? What are your thoughts / knowledgeable concerns?

    Hello Everyone!
I'm super new here, so please forgive my ignorance.
I just brought home my first TRD Off Road 4x4 (previous TRD Sport owner) and want to put in a lift. I read thru this thread and have a decent idea of what I can do with my truck. I'd like some advice on what I should do.

I'd like to lift it to get a little more clearance because we do intend to off road the vehicle (eventually), but nothing too crazy. This is also my daily driver and I'm worried about the warranty because the dealership went on and on about aftermarket lifts, etc. Maybe the warranty thing is a non-issue? I appreciate anyone's input. Thank you.

Not all dealerships take the same approach to mods. The dealership I take mine to has no issues with mods.

They did have me sign a waiver, when they did the TSS recall.

If you’re just going for a little more clearance, I’d recommend Bilsteins on the 1st or 2nd notch. Avoid a spacer lift if you plan to off-road. I only say that because it will be a rougher ride and less travel. I had a spacer lift on a ‘17 and it was rough going over speed bumps.
I never took it off road. Good luck with your choice!

Currently running 265/70/17 wildpeaks on my 21’. I got a good deal on a Warn 8K winch just before Christmas and I’m getting a C4 hybrid bumper. I know I need to upgrade for the weight and I’m going for a lift while I’m at it. My plan is to go either 1.75” or 2” lift. I like the stance I have now but want some more clearance. What would a good setup be? Money isn’t much of an issue for me and I’ll save up to “buy once cry once”. Once I wear out my current tires I’ll probably go up to 285’s and do the other upgrades needed to not rub. I do quite a bit of dirt roads, gravel roads, snow driving, and a little bit of wheeling. It seems like Fox’s or Kings are the popular options and getting them tuned by accutune. It is my daily driver so reliability and comfort is top priority

I've ordered some 8112s / 8100s and Deaver u402 stage 2s. The u402's say they are 2" lift over stock but the 8100s are only rated 0-1.5" over stock. Looking to see if someone can point me in the right direction to see if this will be alright or if I'll need to change the setup.

I am kinda in the same boat here...and looking for your input on what you did/modd'ed.... I have 19 SR5 and go hunting a couple times a year, just got an overland tent so plan on getting out more, but 85% on the street....
Want to get a minor lift, maybe 2"... probably keep stock tires and wheels... level it out, but just a little something to separate it from the rest of the stocks around town.... would like to eliminate some of the "roll" around corners.

Been following this thread and am looking for some insight if anyone has any.

Ive read the FAQ thread, and a bunch on here. So if my Q is duplicative, my apologies.

I just pick two front 5100 with stock spring at 2inch, do I need lift the rear?
Or just add a solid 1inch block in the rear. I heard 1.5 aal need new rear shocks.
