From what I understand by reading here and there, I will need bigger shocks because it will lift the rear end up. I currently have Non TSB leafs

I've read this whole thread and some of the other forums but I'm still not clear on some stuff. My shocks are shot and I need to replace them, and I'm not looking to lift my vehicle much more than stock (1-2 inches max) because I don't want to have to deal with UCAs and diff drops etc. I realize that I can get billies all around with the option of adjusting them to raise them that 1-2 inches (for the front) But in case my coils on my TRD are bad, are there any replacement quality coils that don't increase lift too much or just 1-2 inches? Everything I see is 3in replacement coils

And what's the main difference with the adjustable coilovers and a set up where you buy the coils and shocks and put them together yourself? Are the only benefits of the adjustable coilovers the ability to adjust them from stock to 3inches, and that they are all put together already? (cause they are significantly more expensive) And would that be the only option for me if I want to replace my coils and not lift my truck more than 1-2 inches? Because the coils sold as separates show that they are 3inchs above stock right off the bat, which would be more than what I need. I figure that if I'm gonna replace my suspension, I want to upgrade in performance and quality over stock, just not sure how yet...

Any information on this would be great. Thanks in advance guys.

awsome job man. big thumbs up! i just have 1 question

in the article it says this: "But please take note NO One recommends 5100's to be used in conjunction with after market coils) This may result in damage of your suspension components."

is it unsafe/harmful to your truck if you put 5100's with ebaich or 5100's with OME coils?(on a 1st gen)

my take on this is an " aftermarket coil " that is lifted (taller) or stronger (beefier for more weight) and OEM replacement should be fine

So after reading all of this I'm still a little unsure. I recently put on the 3in toytec lift and the AALs in the rear. My front struts are fine, I still need an alignment which will happen this week...but my rear shocks jolt every time I hit a larger bump in the road since they are fully extending. Bilstein 5100s seem to be the shock of choice but I'm not trying to lift my truck any higher, I just wanna smooth out my ride a bit and stop the jolt. Any suggestions?

Would anyone on this forum know a solution to my prob. I went with a fabtech 6. Ever since then my limited slip beeps at me when I turn. Also it has had a tendancy to lock front up cause me to go to a bit of skid I have 3 inch wheel spacers and running the same nitto 33/1250/17 I had for almost 2 years when I had a 3 inch lift no probs. Any help would be appreciayed

^Sounds like a wheel speed sensor problem. You mean it lock up when you hit the brakes right? Both of those problems could be related to the computer not getting correct wheel speed input. I dont know too much about wheel spacers but 3" !!! That might be your problem. You have to post some pics of that

hey i got probably a stupid question that i really dont think needs its own thread lol

i got a 3" lift with AP leaf pack and billys and ebaich coilovers.

now could i just get some 3" blocks and a drop bracket and make it a 6"?

i know i would need extended brake lines and possibly extended steering column?

but would that be it? would it work?

True now that I think of it the sensor is on the disc brake not the rim so the wheel spacer wouldnt matter. Its a wheel sensing problem. Could be dirty or a bad sensor

Light bar and bumper guard, 3/16 steel skid plates for engine, tranny and transfer box, OME 881 springs with 5100 shocks at mid clip. AAL in rear. Positraction rear diff.
Could you be more specfic on the failure. I recently installed a set of Bilstein 5100 shocks in a set of OME 881 springs with the clip at mid range. Everything seemed to fit together OK. I have not done any hard off road driving yet. I have emailed OME to get their opinion and I'm looking for a contact at Bilstein.

This from Joel Ward at Bilstein:

Tom, I haven't heard anything about that particular combination breaking but I dont generally keep up with the street legal applications (I work with the race product). I do know that your shocks shouldn't be bottomed out or yanked (full droop) repeatedly and that the snap ring 5100 should not be combined with a spacer kit.

From Dan at Wheeler Off-Road where I purchased the springs.

I wouldn't worry about it. As long as the coil seat is installed correctly, the snap ring is captured and can't go anywhere. We sell tons of those shocks, and lots of them with OME coils, and have never had anyone have an issue.
