Look... I own a Tacoma. DCSB, TRD Sport... but it is what it is.

I have the V6. The gas mileage sucks balls. People can make excuses all day long, but this truck should get much better gas mileage than it does. Toyota screwed the pooch and they continue to screw the pooch. This engine sucks fat balls when it comes to fuel efficiency.

I could see the sorry fuel efficiency if it was good at towing, or hauling. But there... it sucks balls once again. It can't carry a lot in the bed, and it can't tow a lot... even with the tow pkg.

The Tacoma is what it is. It's an off road toy. Not a jeep, but almost as good, depending on how you mod it. It damn sure is NOT a work horse... and if you're towing more than a small bass boat or a small trailer full of fire wood... good luck.

For the record: DCSB, 4x4, tow pkg, etc... like having a truck. Not sure I like having THIS truck. I miss the car I traded, BAD. My own damn fault. Impulsive decision.

Awesome, OZ... how often do you do that and how far do you go, and have you tried to do that going up a hill?

Rhetorical questions, of course. I don't actually care. If I was going to carry that much wood with any frequency, I would not have bought a Tacoma. In fact... I'm not sure why I bought a Tacoma... which says more about my stupidity than yours.

Nice work on the huge load Oz. I didn't think these trucks could handle that much payload. You have Dakars tho, so I'm assuming they have a larger payload over stock ...

Hey, man... I trust you put more thought into buying your truck than I did. I liked the look, I wanted a 4x4 (not sure why, I don't fkin need it) and I wanted the tow pkg (once again, not sure why I don't own a fkin bass boat yet... but hell, I want one!)...

I suspect I was fooling myself. I have a need for speed... That need was filled nicely by my G37. I fkin HATE myself for trading that car for this POS truck.

There. I said it out loud and even typed it. Where's that "banging my head on a brick wall" emoticon?

    *sigh*

What's done is done. I'll keep this truck because I regretted selling my last truck. I'll save my quarters until I can afford a new sports car.

People with short bed trucks that complain about space in the bed give me a good laugh.

+1 on buying a trailer, if you have a place to store it.

I'd have gotten a DCLB if they offered it with the 6spd. Oh well.

If I had a place to store a trailer, I'd have a bass boat already and more of a need for this fkin truck.

Don't take offense to this, but...

You sound miserable with the Tacoma, and that's your prerogative. Maybe you were expecting something other than reality and completely mislead yourself. Maybe it was the reputation of the Tacoma that persuaded you to buy one. Or maybe life changed on you. Whatever the case, you're not happy.

That's absolutely okay. Things change. Hell if you told me a year and a half ago that I'd have a daughter I would have laughed in your face.

I am of the mind that unless I am abso-freaking-lutely forced to, I will not drive nor pay for something I'm not happy with. So I don't know if you're venting, or truly hate your Tacoma, but if it's that damn bad for you then maybe you should sell it. Trade it or sell it privately; you could probably get close to if not what you owe. Buy something that fits your needs and makes you happy. :)

    Just my $0.02.

    Getting there...
You do sound pretty unhappy with what you have. Your critiques seem to point towards a full size. Bigger cab, bed, amenities. I went with a Tacoma because I don't have a family and don't need to move large loads around often. I use it to go exploring and for the reliability.

Trailer seems like a decent idea to fix the payload problem...what about waiting for the 1500 ecodiesel? :crapstorm: Bigger cab...torque if you feel like you'll be moving a lot of crap around, going to have more toys like all these new full size trucks are coming out with. And EPA estimate (rated?) at 21/28. Paying the premium for diesel upfront, with fuel costs, and maintenance though. Just an idea if you're considering a F-150 5.0 FX4. Tacos hold their value like crazy too, so you shouldn't get screwed too much on trade in.

I have a 6 x 12 landscape trailer that I use to carry the larger items. It pulls fine even when loaded down. Look for a used trailer on craigslist, repack the wheel bearings so you know they are good to go and then you will be set.

I'm not miserable with the truck, I actually like it. It's just now my needs have changed. I never anticipated all of the limitations applicable to my situation. The truck only has 20k miles! It's a shame to trade it in on a full size American truck! I have a good relationship with my local Toyota dealer, I just don't like the crew max tundra.

I have brand loyalty to Toyota.....maybe I will have to go with the tundra crewmax. Main priority is more interior space. The extra bed size compared to the Tacoma isnt a lot more, but helps a little.

The kid wont be in a rear facing car seat forever?! And a trailer is more than enough, hell if not rent a full size from Lowes or Home Depot ($20 + gas) if you really need it only once and awhile. As time goes buy you will find faughts in anything, finding solutions to them is the key. Tacomas arent a true large "family" truck but they get the job done for what it is. And as stated before they hold their value like none other!

There is absolutely nothing comfortable about having a car seat in a Tacoma. I know first hand.No matter what people say, there isn't enough room no matter it be a rear facing, front facing, etc.

The best way I can put it is, you deal with it begrudgingly.
