tacoma made the truck I want (prerunner) but I cant get it?

I don't need 4x4, I would like the 6 foot bed. I'm not hauling or working. Want something nicer than the sr. Do not need 4 seats, pre-runner seems perfect for all the reasons listed, none for sale on the east coast (i'm from md). Dealers never call me back, they have non coming in (not even a search option in their inventory). Is there any solution to getting one sent in from California that does not drive the price way up? Any recommendations, thinking about the sport otherwise.

 

Custom order one and wait.

 

Toyota doesn't do custom orders. He'll have to find a dealer that has one on allocation.

 

Since it’s a new configuration, you might have to wait a few months for them to start hitting the lots. I’d assume they’ll be coming around the end of this year.

 

Didn't know that. Guess my friend who sells for Toyota just finds me one when I need it.

 

Exactly what he does. You cannot go into a Toyota dealership and sit down and order anything, car or truck the way you want it.
The salesperson will find what you want or as close as possible on another lot. Or one that has been scheduled to be built.
I do refer to factory options, port installed options you can have some control over.

 

It sounds like any Xtra cab model will work for you, not just the Prerunner. However, it seems like Toyota is not planning to build too many Xtra cabs.

My advice would be to find a 3rd gen access cab. Having the suicide doors and actual seats (for occasional use) would be much nicer than what they've done to the new extended cab.
