There will be plenty of room. Remember Cruise Moab registers almost 200 trucks (not including trailers/fifth wheels/tow rigs etc) and they headquartered at BFE. Even if half of the attendees stayed at hotels in town that's still a ton of people/rigs at BFE.

BTW, I will not be camping at BFE. Since I'll be celebrating my 16th anniversary down there with my wife on the 18th we'll be looking for something a bit more comfortable. ;) We'll be at a hotel in town somewhere for sure.

I'll need to figure out a good way to coordinate with everyone because I don't want to have to drive all the way out to BFE each morning and evening if I don't have to.

One other idea, for Cruise Moab they have start times and meeting locations and different CB channels for each run. The meeting locations are pretty convenient for the trails. I think I can remember most of the locations if we wanted to try to use those rather than have a giant cluster-F of trucks all trying to get out of BFE at the same time every day.

Right. but are the trail leaders starting out with their groups from BFE or meeting elsewhere first?

Let me explain what happens at Cruise Moab. For instance, if you are running Kane Creek, the meeting location is at the Movie Theater on Kane Creek Road which is just off Main Street in town. The group meets there at 9:00am. Once the entire group is there they leave together to drive to the trailhead which is another 10-15 min drive. Nobody gets left behind.

The trick with an event like this is that we're there during a very busy part of the season the later you get on the trails the more crowded they are going to be. So if everyone leaves from BFE, and the first group leaves at say 9:00am it will probably be 10:00 before the last group gets out of there, and by that time the trails can start getting busy, especially the popular ones.

For long trails like Elephant Hill, the group would want to get on the road by 8:00am at the latest since you have a good hour drive to the trailhead and it's a long trail followed by an hour drive back once you're done.

For CM, all the trail groups meet at 9:00am at the different locations that are most convenient for that trail, that way everyone is on the trails at about the same time and hopefully before there's a bunch of traffic on the trails. Golden Spike and Elephant Hill are the exceptions since they are so long. Those groups meet at 8:00am

I'm cool with whatever, and I'm not trying to change plans that are already in place, just making a suggestion. It really is a pretty slick setup at CM. They know how to put on an event.

that's good to know from someone who has been there personally seeing the area used to its max...olaf has assured me that there is PLENTY of space there for us, but comfort levels vary from person to person...

we were thinking the night before having a planning meeting of sorts at the main site to establish trail leaders and cb channels....

so i'd say at some point, for those not staying at the main site, check in to the main site if they can, or someone from the group to get the latest updates...

we greatly appreciate any and all pointers you can provide that we maybe missing in this event seems how you have been a part of many events of this nature on a larger scale...so if there are things you see we should change, feel free to shoot them out or pm me and/or jace..

EDIT: as i read further, i see you gave a good tip, especially with rally on the rocks going on...trail start times will be early for the main groups...if you have side parties that you want to roll with, you can set up your separate times to meet, but the main trail runs should start early to avoid crowds and keep our enjoyment levels at the highest on the trails (crowded trails SUCK!)...so 8-9am starts (trailhead) are recommended

when i get some more free time i can get working on this more, but in the middle of tax season, that time is limited...

i'm glad we do too!! 200 is a shit ton of trucks  props to the organizers of that even!

still going to be a crazy ass event with 50-70 trucks, but with 5-7 trail runs going on a day, the crowds from us should be manageable and the parties should be memorable
