Tacoma Mods: How Much Have You Spent?

Kinda went the budget route on my rig, looking at those numbers I'm glad I did.

$16K on truck (eBay)
$240? Wet Okole GB
$240 CBI Sliders (Craigslist)
$300 BFG KM1's (Used)
$125 Hi-lift + Kit (Craigslist)

Sold old parts that came with truck
URD intake- $125?
Headlights- $75?
Grille- $75?
Wheels/tires - $175
Revos - $100

I'm pretty low on the spending. Time for an ARB bumper!

Nah. I got a while yet.

But then, my truck payment and mod money comes out of disposable income after covering the bills and saving 15% of take-home into an IRA, so whatever. Yes, I'm paying a bit more interest than I *HAVE* to, but I get more value out of having the truck modded now and playing with it than the money I would save out of paying it off early.

Not all value is monetary.

 

^^^This....IMHO as long as mod money doesn't come from a credit card, you should all be good.

I think what he means is as long as you're not carrying a balance and paying interest on those purchases because you can't truly afford them.

Like a loan for your truck

 

A truck loan at 4% APR non-compound is a little different from 10k in mods at 30% APR compound. Furthermore, transportation can have an immediate effect on whether you are able to continue gainful employment at all, e.g. if you can't get to work and lose your job, you lose ALL income.

OK then.

I have no idea what the interest rates are on mine. They get paid in full every month, so it's immaterial. I do recall the literature when I signed up in the first place mentioning rates as high as 30% in some circumstances (penalty rates, etc.)

Realistic rates for most people these days are probably 20%ish, provided they haven't missed payments/defaulted, etc.

 

I think the highest interest rate allowed by law up here is 26% APR

Plus, a lot of people here in the US are extremely financially ignorant and have little to no concept of how money moves.

i only put 800 into my grille so my bad on the for some reason i thought i ordered my headlights seperate however soon to regear to 4.10 so that will make up for the mistake lol after labor cost im sure ill be another 1K into another mod... i promised myself the modding will soon stop but idk its an addiction... truck was high school graduation present and has been paid off for years so i honestly have nothing in the truck but mod money. my mom and dad are awesome, a blessing from my date of birth

i paid 450 the grille and 375 for install... had i known of this site at that time i would have bought one off homer taco... my loss i guess

 

$375 for an install that's just fucked up! It's a couple screws and tabs!
