I have never leased a vehicle, so before I did I would have to do my homework.

We just got $6460 off MSRP and 3.59 financing for 72 months on Monday. Never thought I would do that good on a Toyota.

Did you calculate the cost of that?

If not, you might find it interesting to add back into what you paid to see what you signed up for as your total initial cost.

I've never take a loan to term, we always pay off early. The financing was just standard financing, we could have gave back $1000 and gotten promo financing which was like .09 or 1.9, I forget.

Leasing = renting. Unless you have a business and can take advantage of the IRS tax rules stay away.

Early is good. Pull an amoritization chart and note the front end load on interest. You can payoff in 1/2 time and yet paid way more than 1/2 the full term interest.

Not beating on you, just making a point many don't think of.

Interest paid is a non-recoverable cost of the vehicle. If its a 20 year keeper, it doesn't matter too much. If its an every 3-5 year itch to scratch, it's expensive.

No, I own two businesses, one is a RE estate business, we buy and flop homes, its is a cash business. 3% is nominal to me because my cash makes me much, much more. I drop chunks on it when we sell one of our homes, I am very familiar with the amortization table, the house always wins! But for what I do financing actually works for us. It is much easier and simpler to finance an auto than a rehab project.
