It seems like we all agree that the Tacoma is the superior vehicle in all aspects

So the Tacoma got slightly better mileage, so what? I wonder which one was more pleasant to drive with that much weight?

The Tacoma is not designed to tow big weight all the time. Can it do it? Sure. Would it be a pleasant experience, no way. I have always had two trucks, a full size for towing (at the moment a Duramax with 150,000 on it), and a small Toyota to excel at small truck tasks.

When the toy-hauler comes out I drive the Duramax and I enjoy it immensely. Tacoma would suck at that task.
When I head to the hills for overland and hunting trips I drive a Tacoma. The Duramax sucks at these tasks.

Can the Duramax go off road? Yep. Is it ideal for it? Nope.
Can the Tacoma tow 5500 lbs? Yep. Is it ideal for it? Nope.

    \\end rant\\
