Took my 2015 Tacoma to the dealer to get a few things fixed last week.
    1. Rubbing noise from the front of the engine that goes away when the vehicle is warm.
    2. Soft pop when turning off the engine almost every time. ( Heard it was normal smog pump noise)
    3. Rattle, Knocking metal noise when driving over rough roads.
( Bed of the truck was out of alignment. Installed new guides? Not sure what those are)
    4. Shifter sticking and not going all the way into park when pushed up. (Replaced the shifter)

So the first one is the confusing one. I have been told this is a normal noise. (Why?)
Second one I was told that sometimes it will pop when turning it off (Air pump is the way it was explained to me.)

After reading the forum everyone that posted this says this is a normal thing in the newer Tacoma's. It does not interfere with the performance of my truck which is still an exceptional vehicle. I traded my 2007 Tacoma in for this one. Not disappointed at all. Used it on the beach at the Outer Banks in NC without any issues.

Comments on the rubbing noise would be appreciated if anyone else is having this issue.

    Thanks

There's an air pump on the late 2nd gen 4.0 v6 (I believe the 4cyls had them all along). This pump injects air when cold for emissions and, I guess, could be similar to a rubbing noise. 2013 to 2015 will also make a sound when turning off the engine from the same pump. BTW, it's located on the passengers side fender about 1/4 way back from the front. There's a mod to replace the filter that is inside of the pump cover as they can decintegrate as they age and get sucked into the pump resulting in a high dollar fix. There's a thread here on the fix. I'm not surprised of the "it's normal" response the dealer gave you. That is the standard response they are taught to give...

The air inlet to the fender housing is known to make noises. But honestly its a truck, won't be whisper quiet. I'd hate to get your work order haha.

If troll equals facts you can call me troll all day long. I own one, not that great of a truck. My 85,86,874runner and 87 Toyota truck were built better than these trucks. As a matter of fact, I bet they will last longer.

I don't hate them. They are perfect for women, that's why my wife drives it.
