Did you add more gas AFTER the gas pump auto shut off? (I.e. Topping off)

I know there are threads about over filling and that causing damage to a charcoal canister at the fuel tank that is debilitating and expensive.

This that and the other thing.
had this happen on my 00' Carolla, not too sure what this issue was since it only happened twice in the 6 months I owned it. Some people said there was maybe an air lock somewhere but who knows. Don't know much about the fuel systems on these trucks but is there some sort or breather/vent somewhere? if so maybe its a little blocked or something. Good luck figuring it out
