I have a 2008 toyota tacoma and I am wiring in the stock mirror and camera in my truck. I bought the camera and mirror for very cheap from someone who was parting out their truck.

    Here is my problem:

The OEM plastic pieces that were on the vehcile were not there. The plastic pieces are the wire cover and the little black plastic piece that covesr the white harness piece that runs from the mirror.

I am going to post some pictures so I can give a better description

HERE IS A PICTURE OF THE MIRROR IN A TRUCK (NOT MY TRUCK):

HERE IS A PICTURE OF THE BLACK WIRE COVER THAT RUNS UP TO CEILING OF THE TRUCK
    [IMG]

HERE IS A PICTURE OF THE WIRE COVER TAKEN OFF SHOWING THE TOP OF THE MIRROR. THE BLACK COVER THAT COVERS THE WHITE WIRE HARNESS FROM THE MIRROR IS WHAT I NEED. I WENT TO TOYOTA AND THEY SOLD ME THE WIRE COVER, BUT THE BLACK PIECE THAT COVERS THE HARNESS.... I DON"T KNOW WHAT TO DO

I am looking for some sugguestions on where I can get that black piece from. It is not the wire cover, but the black piece that covers up the white wire harness on the mirror.

Please e-mail me if you have sugguestions... or post them in this thread

I see you have a 2009 tacoma, does it have the backup monitor? If it does go out to your truck if you don't mine and you can take the black wire cover piece off.... once you have done this you will see the wire connector going fromt he roof to the mirror..... you will see another black plastic piece that covers the white harness coming from the mirror.. take that piece off.... that is the piece i need... see if you can see a model or part number. The picture of this part is int he pictures i listed. it is the black long piece that goes to the cieling.

i am pretty sure that the piece comes with the mirror. the stealership should be able to tell you. if they pull up the mirror assembly it will show it

my dilemma is that I bought the mirrorf rom someone for $100.00 and it didnt' include that piece... if i were to take my mirror down and put this one up... it would workd, but it would show the white connector and the wire going up into the roof liner. The Black wire cover... will not even sit in its position unless this piece i am talking about is there for it to secure too

i would go back to the dealership and look with the parts person,i'm thinking the only way your going to get it new is to buy the mirror itself
