Makes no sense, most females I've ever known are slobs with their vehicles

The thing with the RL is, even though I get the demographic they're trying to appeal to (though I'm not sure it exists in large numbers), that still doesn't justify the appearance, to me. I just can't believe the current RL, looks-wise, didn't make it to the cutting room floor. It just looks ridiculous...like one of those bad concept vehicles.

BTW...I kid with my sarcastic posts and pictures. I couldn't care any less about the RL or who drives them or whether they're better or worse than a Taco. Just havin' some fun.

But one more for shits and giggles!

Current 2016 and 2017 4Runners still have defective Takata airbags in them new from the factory. Not yet recalled (priority is given to older vehicles) but they will be eventually once parts supply issues are worked through.

No disrespect to the OP, but if you are coming to a Tacoma forum looking for help between the Tacoma or Ridgeline, a truck might not be the right choice for you.

i used to have a ridgeline and now have a tacoma.... to be fair, the ridgeline has a higher payload capacity than my tacoma. the ridgeline had a payload of 1475. the tacoma has a payload of 1175 for a doublecab 4x4 automatic shortbed. it drops to, i think, 975 for the longbed.

I test drove a Ridgeline over the weekend since I am the market for a Tacoma (and thus, presumptively, a Ridgeline.) Interior was much roomier and nicer, particular seat adjustment/comfort and headroom... But I found the thing drove like a Lexus ES350 -- very soft and marshmallow like.. to the point I thought the tires might be running 20 psi low.

I currently drive an old Gen2 RAV4 and that thing (with its Celica All-trac parts bin heritage) drives tighter than the Ridgeline. Of course it's 1000 lb lighter and 40" shorter, but it's also got 150K miles.

So in Canada, pricing is such that a Tacoma TRD OR M/T + aftermarket leather is still cheaper than a Ridgeline EX-L. The Ridgeline has more soft techie bits like pushbutton start, but the Tacoma has 6MT which will be very tough to trump when I finally make my decision.

But sore sure, the Ridgeline is a lot more comfortable seating wise... I rushed to the Toyota dealer right after the RL test drive and the TRD seats are... wow... crude... But then again, when I first test drove the Tacoma in the winter, I didn't find anything wrong with the seats..

    I'm rambling sorry..

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, and I know you mentioned not needing 4wd, but I believe the transfer case in the 4wd Ridgelines is only 4High and does not have a low range capability. You should also look into whether the Honda offers a towing package because if not, the option associated with that can improve the longevity of the driveline if you'll be towing it a bit even if it's just lighter loads.

Secondly, just look at the number of Tacomas sold vs. the Ridgelines on a historical level... forget resale value, just think about how much easier it will be to sell a Tacoma vs a Ridgeline second hand...

Do you want a minivan or a truck? Toyota offers a AWD sienna and would serve the same purpose as the ridgeline

Not sure what the actual factory numbers are...but I've had way more weight in the bed of my Taco than 1175 lbs with no issues.

Might want to check your numbers. Payload for Tacoma is up to 1600lb regardless of cab configuration

That's the 4cylinder manual transmission 2wd. Go look up your model number inside your door and compare to the manual.

The smallest lightest one has that payload. If you are comparing like for like, the Ridgeline is 4wd crew cab.

The numbers you posted are access cab, not double cab.

I'm still lost as to why I should care. If I wanted a ridgeline, I'd have bought one. Instead i have a Tacoma and this is Tacoma world

Dunno if you should care or not, but the payload of a double cab 4x4 is not as high as the Ridgeline. This thread is comparing them.. right?
