Does anyone have any suggestions about which paint kits to buy or avoid? I just look on Amazon and there is too many damn options. Minor touch up on a 2016 Tacoma, superwhite.

I just picked up a paint pen from the dealer. Not too sure about some of those Amazon options.

I just got the Toyota brand one off Amazon, but haven't used it yet. I too was overwhelmed by the options so I stuck with the Toyota one.

I was going to go with Toyota OEM touch up from the parts counter, but the paint and clearcoat come separately as compared to the all-in-one Honda ones I'm used to using. I didn't want to drop $40 for both paint and clearcoat, so I did some research and bought from: https://www.automotivetouchup.com/ We'll see how it turns out once I receive it, but Reddit folks seem to like them a lot.

I use automotive touchup (pic from captqc) and Dr Colorchip on all my cars.

The most basic and important feature of a touch up paint IMO is that it matches the color it's created to match. If the paint doesn't match, it's going to look bad regardless of the company's super-duper application gimmick.

I purchased a small 1/2 oz bottle of Toyota Silver Sky Metallic from Dr Color Chip for my new at the time Tacoma for $35 and it was not even close to a match. I ended up using the GM Blade Silver touch up paint for my Corvette as it matched much closer then the Dr Color Chip.
No more Dr Color Chip for me.

For people that don't want to do it themselves, ask the used car department at your local Toyota dealer about who does their touch-up work. When I bought my truck they said they have a guy that comes to their lot every other Saturday and takes walk ins (or drive ups, I guess).

Used this company for years. But this is just a basecoat. You need the clear coat over it.

Awesome replies, I'll keep it all in mind. Come to find out this is a Toyota paint issue and the dealer is going to re-paint parts of the truck. Toyota has agreed to pay 2/3 of it, which I guess is fair since there is no recall or warranty extension for this VIN. I don't want to touch up a defect because the problem will persist. Thanks again.
