We rented tent trailers and drove from Austin through New Mexico up to Ridgway, Colorado. I took some pics of the Tacoma along the way.

The black box in the back is an esc composite military case. It's basically a giant pelican case that is water, dust, etc proof. I never actually needed the jerry can but was glad to have it just in case.

The truck all clean and ready to pick up the trailer

The trailer was around 2000lbs dry weight with about 180lbs tongue weight. The Dakar leafs did a fantastic job handling the loaded bed and trailer! The truck handled the trailer in the mountains in Colorado very well but I think a trd supercharger is my next step for pulling anything more. I got horrible fuel mileage on the trip.

One of my main goals on this trip was to hit the trails (for the first time ever). Since I had the family and was a newb at the trails, we stuck to the easy ones. First up was Last Dollar Road. There were some incredible views and pretty fun shelf road due because of the wet clay.

We also went up to Alta Lakes. This was actually a really good trail towards the top. Lots of big rocks and water to cross. We stopped and setup a picnic at the lakes (around 11k feet).

Yep saw more elk than mule deer actually. There was a doe at the showers near our campsite in Ridgway that I could have thrown my keys at. It was at night and she was moving her head up and down at me like I was a bull fighter. It made me kinda nervous:)

Nice pictures......my family went up there several years ago but we hauled our fourwheelers so we could go down the back country trails. We had a blast....they have since shutdown those trails because some people complained atv's were messing up the natural environment.

Unfortunate but all too often true. The 5% of turds ruin it for the 95% of responsible riders. We see it all over the place up here.
