Is it just me, or are there a lot of Tacomas on the road today. I took a 60 mile road trip today in Georgia and there were as many Tacomas as F150's. People keep buying these trucks and Ford is going to have to take this segment seriously.

Record sales in '12 of appx 140,000. Have averaged over 100,000 a year since '05. And it's easier to seem like they are everywhere when the body style hasn't changed in nine years.

Up here in NorCal the Tacoma and Tundra rule the land. Verified by the dealership, car stereo place and my own observation. I can witness for Hawaii, lived in Oahu for 4 years and the Tacoma was the #1 selling truck for over 10 years.

You can find U.S. and Canadian sales for any vehicle for past decade at goodcarbadcar dot com. 2006 was the Tacoma's record year. After economy took a dive, it's been a gradual but consistent upward trend to recover, but not the sales volume of the past.

In comparison Ford F-series sales are over 4x the volume in the U.S.
In Canada it's no contest at all, Ford bests Tacoma by 10x sales volume.

It should be noted Ford sells more Raptors every year than Toyota sells FJs.

Cosmetics, options and standard changed throughout the years, but majority of consumers probably don't even know its basically the same truck that came out in 04. But it does sell outstandingly well for an almost 10 year old design.

I wonder how Toyota's engineering and design will top this generation.

    Not exactly accurate.

Raptor is in it's forth year now. In 2010 Raptor sales were 7085 units. 2012 saw approx 13,000 Raptors sold which was approx 20-30% up from 2011, so let's estimate 10K units in 2011. So it was close in 2012 but not the case in previous years. This year perhaps Raptor will surpass FJ's. Numbers on Raptors are tough since it's a sub category to the F-series and not listed in sales volumes much at all as an indepedent model.

    Toyota FJ sales for comparison:
    2010 14,959
    2011 13,541
    2012 13,656
    2013 YTD * 9750

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
now is there a way to see how many are left?

1979-83 Toyota pickups i would guess were outsold buy american trucks by at least 20x as many.

Yet, i would bet that the number of them still running around is not a equal ratio..

I thought it was a legal requirement to have a Subaru if you lived in the Boulder area. Last time I was there, they were everywhere.

If Tacoma ever started selling in F150 numbers, I'd have to sell mine. I couldn't drive something that everyone was driving.
