New or used the Tacoma appeals to more people than the other makes so values will remain high.

It is interesting though, the Tacoma did see a decline in sales for June when compared to last year, I wonder if the Ranger and Gladiator are showing their impact.

Resale is based on long term reliability. Toyota is still king at that.

Just about 40K sold so far this year, honestly impressive. My dad has one, its pretty solid, never has had an issue. Its about 12 years old, he keeps saying he wants to buy a new one before they do a major redesign because of how dependable it has been.

If the impact of the Ranger and Gladiator is the Tacoma has its best quarter ever, I'm guessing Toyota is ok with that. lol

Every year preceding 2018, there has been a dip in June. Summer starts, people are away, etc. (I'm assuming). For some reason, sales increased in June 2018--some sort of fluke. That's probably all it is.

I thought it was supposed to get interesting when the Ranger and Jeep truck came out?

Now Mitsubishi and Dodge are the ones to watch?

They’re not the ones to watch, watch the whole field since almost everyone is going to do a refresh soon. Dodge and Mitsubishi are planning to come back to market to add to the competition

I dont see them adding more than a ripple.

I WOULD be happy to see a bigger variety of trucks on the road 3rd gen Tacomas are everywhere now. I remember 3 years ago when I bought mine they were few and far between. Now there must be at least 6 -10 in my parking lot at work.

Only 1 or 2 Colorados and we finally got our first Ranger last month.

My local Ford dealer still has that same Ranger sitting on the lot all this time, must be since February or early March.

Toyota could actually take the Tacoma sales to another level if they had these motors turbo charged like ford and other companies doing the same.

Toyota’s biggest mistake I think “is, was” dropping the supercharger for their trucks and or not having a turbo available.
Ford has taken all its cars and truck to a new level with almost all having the option of the twin or single turbo motors.

My neighbor bought a new f150 ecoboost (turbo) and I seriously can’t believe how much power that truck has for it size out of a 3.5 v6. I’m not a ford guy by any means, but I was impressed with its power and look at the ecoboost as a game changer for Ford.
There’s no comparison in power between the 3.5 Tacoma and the ford pickup with the turbo.
Maybe the new Tacoma will have a more powerful engine setup or options.

The Tacoma 3.5 puts out 278hp and 265 torque Compared
to Ford 3.5 twin turbo puts. 375hp and 400 torque.

Even my 22 year old out dated Tacoma puts out more power than the new Tacoma.
Why does the Camry 3.5 put out 301 hp and the Tacoma 278hp?

    Something has to change

Crossing my fingers to see what happens

No. It will never get interesting. The Dakota was always a junk vehicle. I’m not even going to comment on a Mitsubishi touching Tacoma in America. Every time something new comes out...sigh.
