Tacoma value would have to drop dramatically for me to lose. As far as tacoma’s go, I’ve been lucky enough to find the right truck at the right time on the lot, and have gotten fantastic deals, twice.

Bought my ‘06 SR5 access cab in September of ‘06. It was a 2.7 I4, 4x4 MT. Stickered at $25k and I got it for $21k flat. Sold it for $13k, 6 years and 72000 miles later. Should’ve kept that truck.

Bought my ‘18 TRDOR in March of ‘19. It was 1 of 3 they had left over, and were very willing to deal. The truck had 48 miles of the ODO, and stickered for ~$39,800. I walked out the door with it for $31,200. So far, it’s been a great truck. Hope to own it at least 15 years.

FWIW, I just checked the dealers website, and they show 44 2019 tacoma’s currently in their inventory. They’ll likely be some deals soon!

The whole rear axle is outdated. It was outdated in 2005.

The people have spoken with their wallets, which is the way this whole world works, for right or wrong. Auto journalist need to get the message which is “we aren’t listening to you. You have made yourself irrelevant by consistently disagreeing with what is an honest, and clear fact. We choose the Tacoma”.

It’s the truth. So much bullshit, bunk lists, and schilling from the “auto journalists” has relegated them to mostly a function of providing fodder for Friday threads on Tacoma World.

Here are the questions those impotent journalist dweebs need to ask themselves (when mom let’s them use the computer):

“Why is the Tacoma so consistently popular, in the face of such criticism? What are the other options missing? What don’t we, as journalists, understand about the Tacoma’s enduring appeal?”

That, my TW brothers and sisters, is the actual subject matter worth talking about, because there is something interesting to think about and learn from in there.

99% of the content out there is just for entertainment purposes. Goofy dudes looking for subscribers. I never base my decisions based on what vehicle made it up Gold Mine Hill or Ike Gauntlet. Those mag rankings mean nothing to me.

The amazing thing is Toyota knows more about the mid size market than all the auto journalists and all the other auto makers combined!!

Journalists thought everyone would “come to their senses” in 2017 after initial interest in the 2016 Taco, then they said 2018 would show us the truth, then they called the ZR2 a “Tacoma killer”, but nope, then they said Ranger would crush it in 2019, still nope, maybe the Gladiator....ummm...maybe?.... then they said 2020 will for sure show us the answer :fingerscrossed:........then they said “just wait for the Ranger refresh” (WTF??)......

Am I the only one seeing a trend?

Maybe the new Dakota will really teach those Toyota pricks a lesson? Hold on.....the New Frontier......yeah....that’s the ticket!

Toyota still hasn’t found the limit of the Tacoma market, they still sale every one they make without any significant discounts or incentives.

Without knowing (or caring) I’d guess all truck sales #s are up... we are currently in a very robust economy i.e. if you don’t got a job you don’t want one.

    THIS. RIGHT. HERE.

Find me a better midsize truck designed to do midsize truck stuff and has legitimate off-road capabilities. Hence the reason for this thread. #1 !!!!

Toyota actually has some real smart people with real degrees making real good money to figure out how to produce what people want.
Auto writers? Not so much. They are looking for likes and hits and ad money, not truth or actual research.

Honestly, I want nothing to do with a supercharger. My truck suits me just fine as is. As Itchy pointed out, I’d much rather see some changes to the interior and maybe disk brakes. Wouldn’t mind a front locker.

See this is the problem of coming in late to a thread. All the good shit gets said already... :pout:

Some chick named Amy who in the 90's had a twin brother named Rock. She thought she should have been a boy too and was confused so changed her name to Am and her gender. Hence Trans Am. Her brother thought it was funny and ran around yelling "I Rock!" everywhere.

Brilliant. Don't forget the guy at the gas station saying "Trans Am, what's your pleasure?" And a truck driver with a dog named Fred...

Ha, I'm a few years young to remember that quote. My uncle's had a few pony cars when I was growing up. A red iroc z, and a red trans am.

    A few.
All subjective and a matter of opinion.

What I'd like to know is, how do all these youtubers grt al these vehicles to roadtest and review? Some only have a couple thousand subscribers. Almost anyone can start a youtube channel. Hell maybe I should start one. Just spew out a bunch of bullshit and act like I know what Im talking about.
