I traded my jk Jeep for my Tacoma. I waited to see a ranger in person when deciding ranger or a taco. I was not impressed with the ranger. The ranger looks way too feminine imo. Also, I’ve been burned on fords resale value once before.

I started looking at mid sized trucks about 6 weeks ago. I wanted 4 wheel drive, but this will be more of a work truck than off road explorer. I looked at the Colorado, Ranger, and Tacoma. The Colorado is just plain ugly! And the dash looked cheap....so that was quickly out of the picture. Rangers were hard to find on the lots, which may explain the low 1st quarter sales. I was able to finally test drive one and found it comfortable, fairly quiet, and frankly a decent offering. The one thing that swayed me the most into choosing the Tacoma over the other two was PRICE and cost of money. I almost always do a 3 year lease, then usually buy it out if the numbers look good, like the GTI i owned. A comparably optioned Ford Ranger was at least $170 more per month on a 3 year lease vs the Tacoma! That is going to be a major hurtle for Ford to overcome. The thing that really surprised me was the lease difference between Toyota dealership. First place I looked wanted $380/m 36/12000 lease......ended up getting same truck for under $300/m I LOVE MY TACOMA!!!!!!!!!

I wish toyota made DCLB OR in manual. ( or at least sport) That would be my dream truck. Still dont understand why, maybe someone can explain to me? :notsure:

Most of my driving is on road. In winter i go snowboarding and summer i go camping, so some off roading but nothing too extreme. Wouldnt mind longer wheelbase at all. Unfortunately i had no choice because i had to have MT and 4 doors. (Previous truck was acces cab and that was one of the reasons i sold her) So i had to get the sport with SB. ( no money for pro haha) I love the truck no regrets really, just wish i had the locker for those oh shit moments:p

Im pretty confident that the Jeep will at the very least be in the #2 slot. The big if right now are what are their annual production numbers going to be. The Wrangler has been selling at a comparable rate to the Tacoma for a few years now. I assume the Gladiator will be lower production due to being produced in one plant, but if the numbers are similar to the Wrangler it could be a toss up.

I love Toyota’s and especially the Tacoma. I’ve owned 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gens. But the 3rd gen has to be the worst truck among the 3. It’s by far the best looking truck on the market but the worst transmission and engine. Now I don’t need a super fast truck but what I do need is a truck that shifts properly and doesn’t get stuck rev’ing over 3000rpm for no reason. Which is why I got rid of it and honestly don’t think I will miss it too much. I traded the 3rd gen for a 1st gen Tundra and so far so good. I forgot how nice it is for a vehicle to shift like it’s supoosed to and feel like you have power when you need it. Also, I wish Toyota would compete more so in the off road category and make there Pro more capable with front locker and real sized off road tires.

I saw a new Ranger on I-85 south of Atlanta last week. I thought it was a Colorado at first until I saw the Ranger name stamped into the tail gate. I wonder how much they cost. I'm happy with my 2015 access cab and I have no desire to get rid of it.

    Everything but the driveshaft. B03A - 410
Exactly. Actually, the NEW Ranger has been sold outside of the US for many years. I suspect it will get dated very fast.

when the ne Colorado came out, I saw one or two that year. The next thing I saw were major discounts on them. To me this means the prices were to high. I see a lot more lately but it's been a few years now. I hope the Ranger does well for Ford. Found this info: Price and Availability. The 2019 Ford Ranger XL, the base model, starts at $24,000, making it one of the more expensive options in the compact pickup truck class. Two other trims will be available, the Ranger XLT, which starts at $27,940, and the Ranger Lariat, which starts at $32,210.Oct 23, 2018

Easy to understand why. Residual value at the end of the lease.

Taco's hold their value very well and one's with low miles [and Toyota will have their leases to the lower end of miles allowed per year, say 10K] and in good shape [remember, you will pay for any excessive wear and tear leasing] are in high demand and priced quite close to new off the lot for the year they sold.

You can lease high demand vehicles for less then a cheaper model not as high in demand simply because you make it all up or more off the back end when it's returned and then sold.

My Dad had a really nice early 2000s F250. I thought it was great until it started literally blowing spark plugs out of the engine block and doing other crazy stuff. But my Dad loves his Fords. Just bought himself another F250.

DCLB is low take rate, and MT is low take rate. Combine the two options and you'd like have a rarely purchased vehicle.
