Aggree 100%, it seems to be the exact opposite with the Tacoma’s, first dealer I went to basically told me your shit out of luck unless you wanna pay msrp and the one I purchased from only knocked off a little bit and threw in studded winters on steel wheels.

The Gladiator is spendy. Im going to seriously look at one when they come out though. I had an FJ and always like Jeeps. Add a truck bed and I'm ready. Im looking for a sport though for the same reason, I can add the parts I want and need for less. Having said that, the Rubicon is a much more direct comparison to the TRD Pro. I built a MT Rubicon, with bed line, HT and floor mats and the total was ~47k. I reached out to some people online and already have quotes for 5-6% below invoice, that would bring the Rubicon to about 41K. The MT TRD Pro is 44k and getting that discounted is rare. I could add the Jeep adaptive cruise and leather and it would still be about 43k. Point is you can get a Rubicon gladiator for less than a comparable Pro. Even if it was compared to my current TRD OR which was 35k, it would cost you as much if not more than the Rubicon to build it comparably. Beyond that we each weigh our own pros and cons. For me the addition locker, the sway bar disconnect, the removable doors and roof, 35s fitting stock, the 4:1 transfer case ratio, Fox shocks. Thats a lot of extra goodies for about 1k less than a Pro. I'm not hating on the Pro or Toyota, but I can be unbiased and I have to say the Rubicon Gladiator purchased by a sensible person should for 41k would at least make me think twice. It also should bring real competition to the market, which Im sure you know is a good thing.

Personally I think it's up to Jeep to win or come in 2nd in this market. If they produce enough trucks they could budge the Tacoma for #1. Jeep people are fanatics and honestly everyone wants a truck now day, including soccer moms that cant seem to get enough of the Wrangler. While 50k will dissuade some of us, take a gander at the Jeep forums. Tons of people their in Rubicons built to 50-60k. It seems crazy to most of us, but it doesnt stop everyone, not even close. People are crazy with their hard earned now days.

Im not familiar with their model trims, I want to say Z71 or something similar.

IF I could get the Rubi Glad for 45 or so, it might be a viable option then, but as it sits right now. Im looking much more at the Tacoma just cause I like the looks much more. And I could add the front locker as well for like 1200 cause I know a guy, The disconnecting Sway bars though, DAYUM hard hard choice there!

Z71 to my knowledge is all *Appearance* An doesn't add much of anything that I would consider worth bragging about.

Yeah you just have to decide whats best for you. Lockers arent that bad, might as well regear while you're in there. Sway bar disco though, on a IFS... Might as well run 650+ springs and run w/o all the time. Ive done it, its not bad at all.

Im telling you, people can bitch about not having power seats or the weird transmission crap thats going on, but the Tacoma is still the number 1 choice. I aint picking some ford ranger 4 cyl or some colorado over a Tacoma. Its good that they're there to make Toyota upgrade the Tacoma a bit in order to keep up with the tech and what not, but the Tacoma isnt coming down from 1st place. Maybe if Nissan upgrades the Frontier a bit as far as lockers and some tech (that screen is horrible) even Ill be checking it out, but thats a far way from now.

I like the gladiator - especially the low range. I think the Tacoma is a better long term value. It does look nicer. Also - road noise is always bad in the jeeps. Keeping my Tacoma.

What do you mean already? THATS why ford is the #1 seller, their always marking their stuff as cheap as can be! Cause they know, it`ll never sell if they kept the price the same as everybody else! Why do fleets always buy fords? Cause ford knocks them down SO damn cheap, its worth it to buy it for a throw away work truck.

If I am not mistaken, Ford has the highest transaction price of the Big 3 and the least incentives on the F150, but the Ranger is an entire different story, they hosed it up from top to bottom.

Give it time and those incentives will keep growing, 9K sales in the 1st Quarter had to have them not feeling to great.

Seems like the vehicles would appeal to very different people. People buy the Tacoma because of the reputation for long term durability and reliability. Or at least that's why I bought one. I came within a whisker of buying a "better value" in the Colorado. But I couldn't get comfortable taking more of a "risk" on GM Quality.

Jeep? Forget about it. Jeep=Chrysler=RAM=FIAT. The absolute bottom of the barrel. No effin' way.
