So i've been looking around at tacomas on craigslist. I only want a 5 speed and i'm debating between 4x4 and a prerunner. but it seems to me like the prerunners are all automatic. is this true? if so then it looks like i'm sticking with 4x4.

True but you have to get a 4cyl to get the 5 speed.

The 6 cly have the 6 speed transmission. Its not very popular do a little research on this forum.

None yet- Future: HIDs, Tinted tails, LED interior lights,
Prerunners are only Autos..... 4x4 and SR5 are 5 speed.

now for the TRD packages: They are both, usually, automatics

All PreRunners were automatics up through the 2004 model year.

4X4's could be either manual or automatic.

There was zero correlation between TRD / SR5 option packages and transmission type in the first generation.

... And you have a SECOND-generation Taco. This thread was started with respect to first generation PreRunners.

Shit, I had a VERY hard time finding an auto trans when I was looking. Every freakin truck that was nice had a stick. Hell, it took me 3 months to find mine.
