KBB calls it roughly $12,500 in good condition from a dealer, $9800 from a private party. of course, factoring in the popularity in your region (not sure where) it may drive the price up a bit...but like others, 16,500 seems WAY too high for a 160k mileage truck.

    Agreed - way too high.

The price of Tacos varies widely based on 2wd / 4wd, AC / DCSB / DCLB / etc. It all depends on what you're looking for specifically.

Travel is key, though! You're likely going to have to drive a bit to find the right one - but it's worth it!

Awesome feedback. I think some of theses dealers and some private owners know the reliability and popularity of these trucks and think they can drive the price through the roof. I am anxious to get one but not desperate so my search radar is still on

Noob here. I just picked up a 2007 SR5 4X4 double cab 4.0L with 32K on the odometer. It has a new frame, new leaf springs, new suspension parts (shocks and the like). Looks like it's brand new. Nothing in the way of rust that I can find. Like Jeffrey, I'm suffering from sticker shock and buyer's remorse! Cost was $22.9K. Got the muffler replaced, new plugs, new differential oil, drive shaft lubed, and all the fasteners replaced at no cost. First mod was a backup camera that works great! But apparently I look studly in the driver's seat...!

I did lots of research. Looks like as soon as the Tacoma hits 100K, prices drop pretty quickly year-to-year. Up until 100K, regardless of year, they retain their value really well. Mine was a 1-owner, too.

I did. Hence some buyer's remorse. But even at that high cost, all the other reliable sources say that this truck in good condition should sell for 20 - 25K - even Consumer reports!! But with the low mileage and new frame, and me being old and not likely to race through bushes and stuff, I thought it was worth the risk. Around here (within a couple hundred miles), same truck was selling for 19.5K with near 100K miles and no new frame.

Convince me I'm an idiot, maybe Wilcox and I can trade!

I'm sure you're not an idiot, just seems like ALOT for a 07'. How does it only have 32k and needed a new frame?

Apparently it came from New York where there's lots of salt and that liquid anti-freeze. Don't know much more than that, but these particular batch of frames seem to rust much quicker. Toyota put out some kind of "Service Campaign", not a recall, and did lots of these things for free. I hope the new one lasts for another 200K! At least I know what to look for and how to address it should it happen again.

I had the same problem when i was looking to buy op..I wanted to stay under 16k but everything had over 130k miles..and the low miles ones cost as much as a new one..so I bought a 2015 exactly a year ago for 32k

I picked up my 06 DCSB, TRD OR last Jan while in South Carolina on business. One owner, extremely clean, no rust, 160K miles for $12,500. Might seem high by some standards but for my area, Northern Michigan, it was a steal and NO RUST!!! These trucks are non-existent up here, this same truck would bring $15-16K or more.
About a month before I bought it I was looking at a 07 DCLB at a local dealer, 155K, asking $20K.....and it sold a week later.

See that's the kicker..In some cases it's better to buy new due to the high prices of these used golden Tacomas. I'm doing my homework on these trucks and While I'm in waiting mode when I see one that's priced decent I will continue to see what y'all guys think. Cause right now I got da fever for a second generation

Yeah if you can still find a new 2015 at the Dealer you could get a good price. Used Tacoma's are hard to find and on the expensive side.
