It says 4.0L for the 4Runner, so i'm wondering why it wouldn't work for the 2nd gen tacoma, since they both have the 1GR-FE? I'm assuming the tune would be slightly different, but the kit should be the same?

will do!! iv been trying to work out how to build my own kit for like a year now lol. so glad this is happening. so much more power potential and more importantly safe power than the magnuson. they just move so much more volume than anything else except maybe a good turbo set up and they do it with lower boost levels. i imagine it will be comparable to the URD kit but my guess is a D1 procharger will make more power at the same boost than the urd, but thats just a guess. all i know is im desperatly looking forward to whipping out my credit card :spending:

I always go with the twin-screw style superchargers but I think for the Tacoma a centrifugal would be a better option. Going with the "bolt-on" rather than the complete overhaul with low pressure won't max out that credit limit too ;)

The single VVTI motor in the Tacoma is different from the dual VVTI motor in the 4Runner internally

also true. curious to see if these kits come with injectors and all that like most of their other kits.

I hope so for future upgrades :fingerscrossed: I'm just glad procharger make stuff for us Toyota trucks since they are traditionally a known muscle car tuner.

Those year model Tacoma's and 4Runners are slightly different 1GR-FE's.

So I know this thread is pretty dead but I actually just called procharger and asked what the word was and he said they were currently trying to tune it properly? He also asked what year my truck was (2007) and told me they were working on 2010+ at the moment but would let me know when they were working on my model year. Aren't the engines the same from 2005-2015? The only difference I know of is the dual VVT they added in newer models and switching over to a non mechanical limited slip. Please correct me if I am wrong and I hope this information helps!

That’s interesting... all 05-15 Tacomas share the same single VVT, dual VVT was added to later years of the FJ and I think the 4Runner. Also to note Prochargers is using HPtuners for the tuning ability. I’m also curious of why the model year difference. Thanks for the update.

Hopefully they have a copy of the TRD tune as a baseline. Should be pretty straightforward from there. My question is, since we have HPtuners now why aren’t there more turbo builds?
