You have one of the Pop & Lock powered ones? Thoughts on it?

What bumper is that? And how do you keep your bed so clean and shiny?? Nice video too. Here in So Cal , there is a number of trucks with no tailgate. My friend who is a sheriff had his stolen. My uncle from Florida, brand new F250, was visiting on a US tour. Had his tailgate stolen in Riverside. I think he said it was $4000

    Ouch that sucks!

I don't haul a ton of stuff around in my bed, and when I do I try to tie it down so its not sliding around scratching things up. I give it a good spray-down once in awhile with my pressure washer as well.

You are most welcome. That bumper actually only ended up costing me $50 or so because I got rear-ended and had the other driver's insurance cut me a check for the damage. A new OEM Tacoma bumper was the same price as the All-Pro ... so that was an easy decision. ;)

Very nice decision! I like the lines and the recovery hooks.

I'm happy with it. I'll actually be doing a similar "Tacoma Product Review" vid for this bumper soon, so I'll explain everything to look for before purchasing. Stay tuned!

Really happy with mine!! Took all of 30min to install too. I believe it was 1 screw and 2 wires. Used under-cabin knockouts to feed the wire up and hardwired it to the passenger side rear door.

Tip for those who are interested in the power lock - don't wire it to the front driver's side door. Tie it to any of the other 3 doors. That way it takes 2 clicks on the fob to unlock it. Limits it from unnecessary lock/unlock cycles every time you just open your drivers side door :thumbsup:

Good thinking. Should drastically extend the life of the locking unit.

+1 to all of this, except that those of us with Access Cabs, can only tie it to one other door.

I just installed mine, but wired it to the driver's door. I like one button unlock for all 4 doors and have my truck set that way. Do people really think that the Pop & Lock solenoid and/or latch mechanicals will have a shorter lifespan if used every time I lock and unlock? Is there a way I could wire it so the 4 cab doors open on first click and only the tailgate opens on 2nd click?

I mean, realistically probably not. I just figured it was an easy way to let the thing work less. Easy way to insure the purchase I guess

If all your doors open on 1 click I don't think theres anywhere to tie in to for tailgate to open on 2...

thanks for the review, i was wondering about getting one of these. i have an aluminum trifold bedcover, so this would not only save my gate, but also add a little security to my cargo. thanks again!

Absolutely! Are you going for the regular or electronic version?

I would suggest going ahead and buying an extra set of those overpriced plastic clips that Toyota uses to hold the rods and storing them in your spare parts stash. Unless Toyota improved the quality, the plastic pieces pretty much suck. After some time and use they get weaker and seem to break. I make sure to spray some spray grease into the side latches periodically to help keep them from sticking so it helps relieve stress on the handle attachments.

Incidentally, you can mount aftermarket cameras in the pop n lock with a little modification, or at least I was able to get my Pioneer in there and angled correctly by relieving some of the opening with a Dremel and file.
