    thank you!

I believe they're all Mexico production now, the way to tell is the first digit of the vin. If you have a 1 it's U.S. made. IIRC.

Mine was made in Texas but it's also a 2010.

That said I'm sure it's the same folks assembling them across the border as they were within the U.S. border.

Actually the way to tell on the VIN is if it starts with "3" it's made in Mexico, if it starts with "5" it's US made.

Remember, it isn't like the Texas plant is being shut down. Its production is just shifting to something else.

Also FWIW, the quality control standards are the same. People on here will often try to use Mexico as a scapegoat, but most of the issues happen regardless if it is built in Texas or Mexico. Not to mention that is just where assembly happens. Most of the parts are manufactured elsewhere and brought in. That goes for any manufacturer.

Just checked mine, yeah you're right, it starts with a 5.

1 is still a U.S. made code though.

believe it or not, the QC out of the Mexico plant has been proven to be superior to that of the San Antonio plant...

For anyone playing at home. 1 4 and 5 are all US country of origin digits for vin numbers

I mean they're sold out everywhere, and used prices are often exceeding new.

So, in the cost of manufacturing a vehicle mostly made by robotics, the human labor aspect is small. The difference in cost is nearly nill.

Yes, and the Mexico plant has the higher awards to prove it.

Back in the day I used to be a VW fan. It was a common knowledge that VW's made in Mexico were inferior to ones made in Germany. Rest assured that if our Taco's were Japanese made we wouldn't have loose spark plugs, low fluids in diffs, tranny's...just saying. I think vehicles assembled or made in North America are ok but could be way better...just saying .
Back in the mid nineties I bought one of the first BMW's 3 series made in the US, I can't tell you how many times I went to the dealership to have them close gaps on the center console, I used to have light creeping through gaps, my trunk lid had uneven gaps...I remember Lexus doing a commercial at about the same time showing how exact their gaps were...that's when I knew that the bar has been raised by a lot...mind you those Lexus cars were Made in Japan!

I agree - Have you ever noticed that every company including Ford, GM etc. have award winning service and the dealerships have a cabinet full of awards even though they have crap service. Who gives these awards and how do they merit it - sales ??? I was a Toyota Forklift Road Technician and the sales literature said we were "Factory Trained Mechanics" but most didn't know where the factory was .

considering the lack of quality in american made cars, I would not be using that as an example. lol. I would rather have it made somewhere else. and I am sure the QC is better there than in the US.
