We have a Mexico-made Tacoma and a Japan-made 4Runner. The difference is negligible in my opinion. Although my Tacoma is 2 years older than the 4Runner, I can't say I've noticed many build quality issues with either one.

In the same year. So the Mexico plant beat the US plant in the SAME year.

I'm happy with the build quality of my Mexican-made Tacoma.

The only thing unusual was the odyssey that it followed in getting to me in Virginia: trucked from Guanajuato to Vera Cruz, taken by ship to Newark, N.J., and then trucked to Virginia.

Toyota shifted production away from Texas to free up production capacity for TMMTX to be able to produce both the Tundra and new Sequoia. Couldn't do all three. Plus moving Sequoia production from Indiana to Texas frees up TMMI to produce more Highlanders and hybrid Siennas.

Nothing sinister about it. Just business

"5" in San Antonio, Texas, build

"3" is Baja California, Mexico build. Just 7 miles south of San Diego, CA btw.

I remember my Chevy every part from the dealer, made in China. Parts for the Taco "Thailand" oil filter, "USA" air filter, bed lights "USA". Much more local sourcing. Toyota goes with quality suppliers. Chevy went with "lowest bid supplier" (tailgate straps snapped due to corrosion. Yep, made in China OEM replacements. Replace every four years.)

Japanese-built vehicles have had high quality. My wife 2006 Honda CRV. Built-in Japan. Her 2021 CRV Built in Canada.

With my son, who knows I get those wild hairs, I commented I could have bought a 2021 Land Cruiser. I love them, but the reason I wanted a Tacoma. I need to park in a medical parking garage! He keeps asking, "everything OK". I've already said my bucket list vehicle will be a Porsche 911 GT3. My body should have shut down by now, but screw it, I'm still having fun and want to enjoy some backcountry camping.

Read yesterday that Toyota was hiring 1,400 workers for their Indiana plant to build out their
newer Sienna I think it was... going on about the Electric capabilities of it ... some enhanced
version of the technology. Glad to see decent paying jobs coming here.

Always love the thinly-veiled xenophobia these threads bring out

If anyone said the US plants won awards, nobody would be pushing for "proof".
