The only problem we have seen is the Delco radio issue ... and thats not Toyotas.

I hear the 2011 canyon will be a rebadged Tacoma.... like the Pontiac vibe/matrix thing. :gossip: :stirthepot:

I can agree with everything I've highlighted in bold, and then some. I have owned trucks all my life, and owned a fleet of work trucks so I have a real good idea of what the benchmark is for a good truck. All in all, I have been impressed with the Tacoma, but for the money there is some things that are really lacking. One of my biggest problems of all is the terribly thin sheet metal that is used on the body, in particular the roof. The paint is also of terrible quality. Sure it looks decent, but is very thin and chips quite easy compared to my other trucks. Another problem is the clutch pedal that will NOT stop squeaking no mater what is done. Replace it, and then listen to it squeak again 6 months later. I can also agree that not having a bed light is pretty ridiculous. Other than the above, I've been pretty pleased with the truck, the the issues at hand are fairly serious and will definitely have me looking around a little more when it comes time to buy a new truck.

NO WAY! guess I won't be able to laugh at canyons anymore ;)

ok, just to throw my two cents in... I have an 06 with a 6 speed and I drive it like I stole it and my ass is on fire and I have never had any issues with it. I now have 50k on it (20 of which I put on last year) and it has handled everything I have thrown at it with no problems.
as far as the roof being too thin, I thought the same thing BUT I have been in more hail storms in this truck than in anything else and not one ding in the roof or hood.
The only ding I currently have is from taking it off road and slamming the admitidly too thin rear bumper into the bed hard enough it kinked the bed.
I understand, you bought a truck and want things to be perfect. Have you gone back to the dealer and asked about these things? (I'm sorry if someone already asked that and I missed it).

oh and, I have hauled motorcycles around in my truck across several states with no problem using the side rail cleats. It wasn't till I read about other members having problems that I decided to install some extra tie down anchors in the floor. I am going to guess I just was super lucky the first 6 or 10 times.

My Maxima was a POS also. I know several people that bought Frontiers to have nothing but problems with them.

LOL...Kinda what I found. They warrantied everything great, but the down time of my truck was horrible (3 trannys in 3 years for example)

Does not compute! Frontier Xterra and Pathfinder are mechanical triplets. the only real difference is the Pathfinder's IRS while the others have live axles. How do I know? I was a Nissan sales-douche for the better part of a year. Also, my wife currently drives an 05 'Finder. Before that she had a 350Z. Both have been in the shop more than I would like, mostly for the quality type stuff-rattles and what not. But the Z had THREE seperate recalls. not TSB's but full recalls. And just the other day the Pathfinder shit a bolt of unknown origin in the garage. Still haven't figured that one out. The taco? Hasn't even seen a dealership in years, and that was the 60K service. I'm pushing 100K now.

I watched the 2005 Tacoma vs Frontier review video and it mentioned how the Tacoma was 400lbs lighter in similar configs. I know options can make this move up or down but maybe the thin metal has trade off for lighter(mpg/weight) just like the bed.

The paint I can see a gripe with, but my truck has little to none of these issues and I have gotten to use the bed quite a bit so far. Undercoat the frame, wax it good and get some good floor mats.:)
