Hello, so I drive a 2006 silver Tacoma with about 150k miles on it. I have had the truck for about a year and no issues so far except I had to replace my mass air flow sensor. For the past 3 or 4 months roughly my vehicle started dying when driving extremely slow and making turns. For example, when leaving a parking lot my car will shut off while pulling out of the spot and turning or while turning in parking garages it will shut off. Rarely it’ll happen while I’m sitting at a light but for the most part it only seems to happen while I’m going very slow and turning. It happens very rare some sometimes once or twice a week and sometimes it won’t happen for a week or two.

Any ideas what the problem might be?

I’d check the battery cables. It almost sounds like something is loose and making a poor connection.
You might even pop open the big fuse box cover and make sure the connection is good there also.

Sounds like a classic dirty throttle body to me, unhook the battery, clean the throttle body, reconnect, and allow to idle up to operating temp and a few min after to relearn the idle.

I think I remember someone else on this forum having the same problem.
But can’t remember what the problem was, or if he ever came back and actually said.

Is the idle fluctuating a lot? Is the engine stumbling?

Check battery connections, and TB, per above^^^

Does your truck have any aftermarket wiring from accessories, that may be bad?

Check the ends of all vacuum hoses for splits and tears, that can cause leaks.

Has your fuel pump ever been replaced?

Sometimes when I gas it I do feel that there’s a little delay or that it might “lack some power” and also sometimes if I accelerate quickly, merging into a highway for example, and then let off the gas my rpm shoots up and then back down which didn’t used to happen. I do have an aftermarket head unit, all the wiring seems to be fine with that. I’m honestly not sure about the fuel pump.

I would do the throttle body cleaning and battery connections first before throwing any parts.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions! I’ll try a few of them and see if they fix the problem.
