Tacoma RCI transmission skid install

Hello TW,

Trying to install my transmission skid on my '13 Tacoma and am perplexed on how to install it. I received four bolts and washers but can't seem to find where they bolt in the rear of the transmission skid plate (I already have a front installed). The instructions and hardware I received state a 03-16 4runner/ 07-14 FJ and make no reference to a Tacoma. I don't have the cross beam supports like the instructions say and the transmission skid looks different than what the picture on the instructions looks like (mine has square holes for possibly carriage bolts). Did I get the wrong hardware bundle? Anyone with a RCI trans skid install, could you help shine some light on this matter? Pictures attached.

You should have gotten long carriage bolts that run straight through the top of that cross member. They also include nuts and large washers.

Don't mind the spacer seen on mine. It's used in conjunction with the transfer case skid to clear the stock exhaust routing.

That is good to know; I thought I was going crazy or suddenly became mechanically inept! I definitely got the wrong hardware so thanks for clearing it up. Did your instructions that came with the hardware reference a Tacoma? I also got the transfer case plate to install but got to reroute my exhaust first.

 

Yeah you probably got the wrong hardware kit.
