    To centralize emissions, the oil or gas will be burned in generation plants that produce the electricity. I mentioned that in my post. The oil industry will become a feedstock for the electricity industry, as it already is in many parts of the world.

    It makes no sense to haul around the gasoline, and produce local pollution. The pollution will be centralized at the generating stations.

    I think China/India will play the biggest role. Once they decree “100% Electric....and a cheap car for everyone” the jig will be up. The automakers will focus all their R&D on those markets and gas cars will die a slow painful death. Trucks will be the last vestige.

    Maybe, but China and India don’t give a f#ck about pollution. Again it’s about whatever wins with the $$$, cost of producing energy. Then next is the infrastructure to supply it.

    That’s actually not true. Chinese people aren’t stupid. They don’t want their children breathing smog either. Some of the biggest initiatives for clean air and renewable energy are happening in China. As their standard of living starts to increase, they are demanding a better environment, just like what happened in London or New York in the industrial revolution.

    Give it time.
