Tacoma resale value is insane. My 2019 SR for the first time is worth more than I paid for it ($23,700 before tax tag & fees).
The value trended down last year but now has trended up to its highest value ever. My mileage is lower than the screenshot, less than 14,000 miles so likely would be worth more if I updated it at Carvana. I only drive short mileage a couple times a week.
But I’m not ever selling this truck!
Curious as to what others are seeing on resale value?

They offered me 29K for my 19 OR I paid 34K for. Thats after putting 60K miles on it. Pretty good in my eyes.

    Just finding out about inflation?

[Don't get too excited, your dollar buys an equal amount less now]

Interesting. KBB is pricing my 4 year old truck for a couple grand more than what I had paid for it.

Everyone knows about inflation, captain obvious lol.
The point is Tacomas hold their value far better than most other vehicles. Get it?

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
The fact that its purchase price using 2025 dollars is about $30K and you've been able to enjoy it for 5 or so years and could possibly sell it today for $30K is not a bad deal.

My 2017 went up after I bought it. More so during the 2020 era. Latest offers have been 29k ish with 70k miles. Not bad for a 9 year old truck imo.

The question isnt how much is the truck worth now, but how much would a new one cost if I needed to replace it

It's not necessarily a "financial gain" if a new costs 10k more

This comment isnt directed at OP, just thinking about what constitutes "value"

The interplay between market demands and new vehicle quality and cost of ownership are the underlying pressures that are causing this trend. Every new car costs more, the maintenance costs more, the parts (particularly modules and screens) cost more, and as we all know, the cost of insurance and personal property taxes are always higher on new vehicles. In a world where everything is costing more, the benefits of having a vehicle a few years older, potentially also paid-off, are bigger considerations for most normal (not loaded) folks. I think we are reaching a tipping point, buyers are more and more aware of the pitfalls of all the technology and are looking for less buttons that break, and vehicles that run longer without issues are becoming harder to come by. Almost every vehicle built now has about 30 to 40% more plastic parts than the same model 6 to 10 years ago. Hell, the new RAM 1500 has plastic upper control arms. Don't get me wrong the 4th gen looks great, but it's not the work-horse the 3rd, 2nd, and 1st gen are, and the commanding price of a well spec'd 4th gen is borderline crazy, unless you want a car note over 1k plus the insurance and property taxes, it makes no sense. The used ones are also getting rarer as folks hold onto them for longer, and they keep on running. The biggest problem with all this are the insurance companies who would much rather see vehicles depreciate to the point where the damage makes totaling it a lot easier. Insurance would much rather total your car than fix it, if at all possible. It's generally the better move for them as you take on more insurance when your vehicle gets totaled and you buy a new one. It's a win/win for the dealers, the insurance companies, and the local taxes. The only person that loses on a new car purchase is the buyer, because your vehicle value is calculated off the new price, not the depreciation the moment you drive it odd the lot. Buying new vehicles for the warranty is also waste because the failures are repetitive and new vehicle warranty repairs don't carry any warranty outside of the warranty period. So, if you have a new vehicle and the a/c evaporator leaks under warranty and it's replaced at no cost, then the vehicle goes out of warranty and the same thing happens again, you don't have a leg to stand on, you have to pay for the repair even though it's the same failure, and probably the same replacement part that failed previously. There is no way out of this cycle, if you own poor quality vehicle you will keep having the same failures because the replacement part is the same quality as the original. So, either you own a vehicle that is good quality, preferably built before "let's make everything plastic" initiative, or you have mechanical skills or deep pockets. Older vehicles were built better, period.

@GreaseForPeace Well written. I bought a 2018 less than a year ago. Everything else I own is pre 2002. And they all run like champs. That's the glory part of being a "lets get greasy" kind of person. Just got my tax bill today. The 2018 was 3 times more than all the 3 other vehicles combined. Bottom line for me is, it just is what it is. Pay to play. And I still do like to play.

Tacomas holding their value is why I think the lower priced trims are a better buy. They initially cost less and still hold value.

If gov back mortgages accept btc as an asset won't that bring the value of the dollar down?

32k for my 2020 4x4 TRD OR with 50,000 miles on it was the offer on Carvana. I paid 37500....I don't plan on selling it, but was curious and now get monthly updates.
