I had this conversation with guys at work today. Tacoma are the only vehicle that I would call an investment. Glad I snagged me a 2015 for cheap...

Just picked up the 2013 I mentioned. AC TRD OR 4WD with 65k miles. Serviced every 5k at the selling dealer. Well serviced but he actually USED the truck. Unlike I do or most people do around here. But the price was right at $19k. Traded my 06 AC TRD OR Prerunner with 168k miles for $8500 (only paid $10k for it almost 2 years ago). I could have gotten more from selling privately I'm sure but I don't know it would have been much more and worth the hassle.

i love the resale on these trucks. one of the biggest reason why I will keep it forever. maybe another 5 years and I will probably buy something else and the Tacoma will become my side vehicle. but just for reference..i bought my '15 DCSB O/R for $31K in April 2015. this past November we went to the same dealership and bought her "16 Highlander XLE. While I was there the same sales rep I bought the truck from offered $29.5K trade in. Openly said he will put a $35K sticker on it. I mean losing $1500 on it for almost two years of ownership, only 17k miles on it, I think is excellent. Some called me dumb for not taking it but I considered the fact that whatever I traded it in for, which most likely would have been a Tundra, would have depreciated way faster and I would have lost a lot more in the long game.
