I found a post on here about wires that suggested the CARQUEST brand carried by Advance Auto Parts was a good choice so I went with those, about half the price of OEM

BTW I am not so sure the OEM ones are not Chinese as well?

It's not a dumb question, but it's hard to give an informed answer. Some wires seem to be really delicate and get screwed up rather easily unless you're really careful or lucky. I guess if it were me I would consider the following:
    1. I just put all that money and effort into changing the head
    2. After all that, I reused the spark plug wires
    3. I have a misfire that got worse when I twisted a spark plug wire
    4. Parts stores have to order wires, which might be low quality (how much $, cause it's the price differential we have to consider)
    5. Dealer has OEM wires in stock for $105, which will likely solve the problem (no guarantees)
    6. Letting a misfire caused by no spark could send my catalytic converter to an early grave (watch out for flashing CEL), which is preventable and much more expensive than new wires.
    7. Worst case, I spend $105 on a maintenance item that doesn't fix the problem.
I realize that many of us drive old trucks and do our own maintenance because money may be tight; some of us do it for fun and pride. For me, at various points in my life it has been a combination. My point is, advising someone over the internet to spend hard earned money on parts isn't something I take lightly. With the facts you laid out, if it were me, I would probably spend the money on new wires and hope for the best.

Hey BTLowry, you're gonna do a proper shakedown and give us an update tomorrow, right?

In the repair manual, the 3rd step of the troubleshooting for P0301-P0306 is measure resistance of the injector on the misfiring cylinder. The first step is check the spark plug and spark on that cylinder. Second step is check for voltage at the ECU for the wire leading to injector on misfiring cylinder.

You tell me what that is and I will

Just a wild guess that you are talking about driving it under normal conditions and reporting back that I am either back to normal or still having issues?

I can do that as soon as I get that wrench out from between the coils ;)
If you are talking about something else, let me know

Got the wrench out and drove it over to my parents

Good news is no miss and no fuel leaking anywhere I can see or smell

It does idle rough but I am ordering a silicone hose kit to replace all of the vacuum and breather lines and see if it has a leak causing the rough idle, then clean the IAC real good too if hoses don't clear it up
Idling a little rough is a lot better than a dead miss

    Update

Silicone hoses arrived today. Had time to change about 80% of the vacuum hoses out (pretty much all I could see) and already idling smoothly.

    Miss is gone

Don't know how I missed your update, anyway glad to know the misfire seems to be resolved. Although I drive the 2.7L, could you post up which vacuum hoses you ordered?

Andy I ordered the engine dress up set from siliconeintakes.com

added 4ft of 8mm and should have ordered 8 additional feet just to be safe but I think when I get it all changed out it will be close
