Tacoma sales are down again from October 22 to November 22. Toyota sales numbers slip by just over 1500 units. Not a good sign for Americas #1 selling midsize truck. Demand for the Tacoma is down there are new Tacoma trucks sitting on dealer lots with no one to purchase them.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Toyota scale back production of 2023 Tacomas.

They are still behind on production, just because you see them on lots doesn't mean they aren't still behind.

I assure you its production, not sales that's causing the bad numbers.

Highlander and Sienna are the worst hit. The new tundra and sequoia are brutal for waits.

The only model that seems ok for production is the 4runner oddly enough. We still see lots come and go compared to other models.

Yeah, nobody wants Tacomas or 4Runners anymore. Everyone hates them.

The nubers are still down no matter what the reason. If demand was high there wouldn't be any inventory available at all.

Being behind on production is a factor. If Toyota had more Tacomas availble I'm sure the sales numbers would be higher.

Overall demand is lower. I think it has more to do with rates and dealer mark ups. Over production, as there is inventory available.

This is not true. When there are vehicles on the lot you can buy, you'll see dealerships post pictures of them in the dealer parking lot. Most cities I've checked show stock photos or no photo at all, which tells me nothing has changed from earlier this year when no sellable vehicles were on the lot. I checked my city, and here is Colorado Springs:

EV truck sales are tearing into Tacoma sales numbers. I'm seeing alot of Lightings on jobsites, and more and more R1Ts on the road every day.

I almost bought a Pro4x simply because I couldn’t find a Tacoma with any Tech packages. No dealer would take an order, I persisted and got a little lucky and a dealer secured a Sport with a lot of options. I think sales are down because there are very limited options out there although plenty of SR5’s out there

I got one in September so I haven't been paying attention. Not my problem anymore!

Not too many stock photos of trucks that have only been available for 23. Lime Green TRDs, and SR5 SX.

I wouldn't buy one now. Chip shortage, plus build quality is horrible. That goes for any manufacturer. See it in almost everything now a days.

Just went by my dealer ( C. Florida) to pick up a filter for an oil change yesterday.

There were none, zero tacomas on the lot and one Tundra with a “Sold” and a “market adjustment” tag on it for 8K above its sticker.

Where are you seeing these trucks for sale? Everything I'm seeing is either having a truck on order or buying above mrsp

Various dealers throughout the US mostly the midatlantic region, but there are trucks on the west coast and else where. Just look for AC OR, those are the rarest Tacomas to find. Most of the ones I see online are accompanied by a photo.

    few things here and there.
    I’ll play devils advocate here..

To be fair, I’d be annoyed shopping for a truck that historically has had amazing reliability, but currently is still suffering from a gear hunting AT.

Or, perhaps, it’s the fact that the 2024 is right around the corner?

Or… or or… that enough have sold, and it’s a natural decline. Look at the Nintendo switch, still selling like hotcakes, but it’s finally starting to slope at the end of its current generation.

Point is, there are many reasons that could contribute.. but I don’t think it’s a reflection of bad things to come from future production, etc.

Are there a lot of people cross shopping a $73,000 Rivian to a $40,000 Tacoma?

I can see a Lightning v Rivian or even a Lightning Pro (which no one will get for 2-3 years). My income definitely cannot handle a Rivian stripped model.

I just checked my dealer website, Labadie Toyota in Bay City MI. Looks the same as earlier this year. No MT's, no access cabs and a couple genaric Taco's on the lot. Anything good that shows up is pre sold.

Who cares if the numbers are down, unless you’re invested in Toyota stock. They are still a quality fun truck to own.

I dunno, 10 overpriced 3rd gens on local lot for sale not moving. 1-2 new ones already spoken for. Who wants a used one when It's more than new in some cases.

I think higher interest rates may be having some re-thinking a major purchase. However there is still very real supply chain issues plaguing the industry. When does the fed hike rates next?

Probably more people than I would think cross shop higher end vehicles with Tacomas.

People must be cross shopping Lightings with XL, STX, and XLT F-150 4dr short beds, for work trucks. Maybe they got in at a good price and the EV tax credit make up the $20k difference. If it's a total write off I guess it don't matter.
