You should see the charge time if you have to use a normal 110 plug.

Its actually been a very reliable and cheap car to own. Its only had 2 sets of tires, outside of the oem ones, and a rear brake job, plus its 10k mile oil changes in over 100k miles. Granted your not going to win any races with it, but it still runs like the day we got.

I think we will shortages for all manufactures for the next several years. Hurricane Ian added another 350,000 to 400,000 vehicles destroyed. My daughter lost her SUV and my son-in-law jumped on the first Tahoe he could find. The main Toyota dealers here are empty no Tacoma's.

I was just thinking about that last night. It would be a good business venture. Ideally they'd be close to shopping and restaurants, but I'm not sure how one would negotiate the land or property lease. In other words, how much the property owner would be compensated for having a few EV chargers on their property/storefront. Definitely something to look into.

You still need the electricity. Which could be the biggest issue on the east coast.

Dealers are making more money selling fewer Tacos at sticker plus than moving volume with the great lease deals

More and more, apartment complexes are putting in options for charging. One of the hospitals I work at has free charging for employees on site. The more these things happen, the more viable it will be.

There are some EVs on the market that are very competitive from a price perspective, made even more appealing by federal and local incentives.

These talking points are old. Read the articles I posted above for starters.

    And then there's this:

Which most people hardly ever have to do. I don't care if you do, most people do not.

Nobody is saying you have to replace all your ICE vehicles with EV vehicles tomorrow. But an average 2 vehicle household would do absolutely fine with 1 EV in the mix. There are countless examples of people being very happy in doing so.

What's funny is, since the whole COVID thing, I very rarely drive, except that is, when I'm driving over 200 miles.

When 2040 rolls around nobody will want to be driving EVs no more.

What about houses with on street parking, apartment complexes, high rise buildings etc?

Disagree on EV's taking market-share from the Tacomas.
I'd blame the re-released Ford Rangers.

I'm a former Ford Ranger guy (owned3) and I think from their re-release in 2019, that's got to be cutting on the Tacoma sales.
Especially since they were not produced since 2013. Add to that, the new Ford-Maverick (unibody vehicle, that "looks" like a truck) is probably taking some of the Tacoma-Utility Package Sales. I think the Ford-Mavericks are a lot cheaper.

I don't think the new Rangers are much cheaper (anymore) than the Tacoma, but there is definitely a following for the Ford-Ranger brand...however misguided those folks may be (based on my personal experience)

I think owning a clothes dryer might take priority to owning an EV for people living in appartment complexs.

I saw a nice Ranger yesterday. I think it was a 22 chilli pepper red tinted tri coat Lariat Super Crew FX4 black apperance package. I think it was chilli peper red, and it still had the LED headlights Ford stopped building the Lariat with.

They are already cheaper to run than conventional ICE. Less moving parts to break coupled with better efficiency and performance than a comparable ice. By 2040 they will only be better with battery tech rapidly advancing and considerably more charging infrastructure across the nation. Now that legacy manufacturers are making them they will be much more desirable to car enthusiasts than teslas, as Tesla has shitty quality control and anti consumer practices. Plus I’m tired of giving oil companies thousands of dollars so they can price gouge while making record profits.

I can't see where EVs are cheaper to run.

Its cheaper to fill the Tacoma on a road trip, and its almost cheaper to fill it even when you charge at home considering the range difference. Factor in the cost difference and I guess you could be in positive cost territory in what 15 years or so.

No oil changes, no air filters, brakes last longer with regenerative braking. Way less moving parts to break in general. Cost per mile is cheaper than gasoline depending on where you live. You don’t have to worry about short trips decreasing your drivetrains longevity like ICE vehicles. Those are some of the reasons.

So you're not in the cohort that I'm speaking about. That's ok- it's not for everyone.
