Or maybe people finally figured out they can't afford shit right now with high interest rates and the economy tanking.

Buddy of mine has had one for a couple years, and loves it. Says it's a far nicer truck than his tacoma ever was. He can't understand why so many bought into the tacoma mystic when there really are better mid-size trucks to be had.

3rd gens are getting hard to find again up here in the Northeast. I bought my 2023 last month. Mine was one of 2 that rolled off the truck on a weds morning and both mine and the other one was sold before noon.

If sales are down its from lack on product not people wanting to not buy.

There are still a ton of inbound 23's in my area according to Toyotas inventory tracking. The amount of Pros within 500 miles of me is crazy too, probably 75-100 within the next 6-8 weeks. I live in a sparsely populated area as well but close to Texas. I was at the dealer getting my 10k service and they had 0 Tacoma trucks but lots of Tundras. I did like the SR5 with the blacked out wheels, but $59,000 and no power drivers seat was hard to swallow. You can opt for the Limited with a few options and be around $62k. That's a hard sell for a SR5.

What I will say. I have two friends with frontiers. The one mentioned with the brand new one, and one that bought the last year of the previous Gen. The insane thing, is the friend with the 2021 (?) older Gen has already had the diff give out and is on his second rear engine seal, with the truck starting to leak again. You’d think after building the same truck for 20 years, Nissan would have it dialled but they don’t.

Also you need to lift a Frontier 2” just to get the break over clearance of a bone stock SR Tacoma. They are not the best platform for off-road.

We’ll see how the new one fairs.

Can't talk specifically about the trucks but Nissan longevity sux. That's coming from a guy that had a 90 240SX (loved it) 2001 Sentra also loved it... then the 2010 altima's CVT Transmission crapped out at 105K... so exuse me for saying it but F Nissan. I've heard from numerous places that this happened when Renault bought a large part of them...

Remember the frontier used to have a 4.0 . The latest ones have a different motor 3.5 direct injection.
I had two with the 4.0 and they were stellar. Both went to over 200 k with not much issue .
I will say very old school truck and both were manual . I can’t really knock them they ran very well. I’m still a Toyota guy but they were good.

I had a 2013 Frontier. Absolutely bulletproof but I still didn't like the cheapness of it and seat position. Great motor and drivetrain however. Like my new Tacoma way better though.

I been looking for a Tacoma Access 4x4 4 or 6 cylinder SR5. I check inventory daily, talked to three dealers about pre ordering. They are looking..... The dealers who do list what I seek.... All been sold but still in inventory...... But they have these great more expensive TRD's for sale. Ask me a bait and switch seems like.

I have to add for some buying used makes no sense in this market. If you can find new get it, price about the same. Something about being the first to fart in the seat is always good. At my age christening the back seat isn't happening.

    A few.
Backseat is a little small for christening, might have to move to the bed . Tailgate dropped with the 5 footer.
