The Canadian economy started to slow down two years ago while the US economy is just slowing down now, give it time. Most analysts think the Americans are at a peak in consumer spending that won’t last.

Our dollar's been down for years longer than Trudeau has even been CLOSE to being in charge. I'm sure his lack of experience doesn't help much, though.

The Ford three dealers within 100 km of here haven’t had a single Ranger on lot. I mean that as in they come off the truck and they’re either reserved for someone on order or they sell within the day, sometimes before PDI. While I still think the Tacoma will stay the sales leader Ford Canada is having zero issues selling Rangers. It was the same way with the GM twins at launch, it’ll probably be 6 months to a year until inventory has really stabilized and sales figures are reflecting true demand.

He’s right though. The economy hasn’t been very good for a while now and it is showing up in the trucks sales. For the big three oil operations have slowed or stopped so fleet sales are down and for Toyota, in terms of the Taco, there isn’t as much spending cash for large vehicles so sales are ever so slightly slipping.

Well in my area.... I live in Whistler where a single family home is 1+million dollars. On my 80k salary..... fat chance. I have a 4 year contract, I'm 8 months in and after, see yeah. Anyways I would assume cost of living in Canada is the issue. Were not alone in BC, the rest of Canada is feeling the pitch. Were overdue for a correction and if it happens it wont be pretty.

No, you buy it for the fact there like 25 feet between the front and back wheels. It’ll make a killer dragster, but will high-center on speed bumps without at least a 6” lift.

Move to the Maritimes! Homes prices here are relativity cheap compared to the rest of the country. Although they have have jumped significantly in the last couple years, $250k will you get a good place just outside of town or even cheaper if you go rural. I make around the same as you out here. There is a ton work out here right now, not like years past !

Yeah haha, where I'm at (PEI) is doing better than it ever has right now. House prices are getting a little blown out of proportion but still cheap compared to other provinces. Unemployment is at an all time low here, the only reason someone doesn't have a job right now is because they don't wanna work. Wages are also on the rise for most trades, construction is crying for people right now, and mechanics in the heavy equip side of things can pretty much pick wherever they wanna work, not enough guys around.

My parents are in their mid 70s. They just sold my grandads house for over 600k in Virginia and their own home for 250k. Both homes were only on market for less than 2 months. Grandads only a few weeks. I refuse to acknowledge the negative with facts to support it.

This is my experience where I live in BC. The last two or three years have been the busiest and highest earning years of my life, and I’ve been in the trade I’m in for 30 years. I never missed a days work during the last recession, and my wage, and the value of my house has continued to grow. I actually managed to pay off my house during the last downturn.

The city I live in is going gang-busters, and the company I work for cannot hire enough qualified people to fill the positions. Today was a long weekend, and I worked all 4 days for double-time because I can’t keep up and customers are willing to pay double (charged out at $235/hr on the weekend) just to get the work done.

Maybe there is a softening of the market for former baristas looking to get video game testing jobs, but anyone, with any mojo at all, and any tolerance for real work, is absolutely slammed.

I'm in the same boat, worked the last 3 days just playing catch up! (Fri,Sat,Sun) Stayed home today to keep hunny happy. Consistently working 60 hrs a week, and that is never enough to keep up. Also making more money than I ever have, heavy equip mechanic working at it for about 10 years. If you wanna get your hands dirty in any trade right now your going to earn an above average salary no question about it. I bought my 18' Taco brand new this year, knocked 12 years off my 25 year mortgage in 2 years, 2-3 years ago buying any brand new vehicle seemed like a pipe dream, along with idea of owning a home. There may be a few industries in the shits right now, but I would say most are doing very well in Canada. Barista
