How bad of a shake are we talking here? Like if a friend drives along side you on the freeway or highway, is the vibration visible to them?

well the mrs. drove behind me today on the freeway getting back from the shop and she said she couldn't really see it. But on the inside, I've had empties jump out of the cupholder because it shakes so bad, couldve lost my $0.10. And your back definitely feels it.

I should add that at some points (at random) the shaking will stop and things will smooth for a minute or two, and then back to shaking. Thats only ever on my 3hrs drive from detroit to grand rapids

A bent front hub or bad front hub bearing will do this.

you can put a stethoscope on the hubs and spin them for any noise and drag and you can get a tool to see if the hubs are turning true also

what does it mean for the hub to turn true? I definitely feel like this could be a possibility since all the usual stuff is tight and new.

Probably not the issue at all...
But a serious jumpy vibe on the inside
Perhaps the cab mounts have loosened a bit
Probably not the issue as mentioned

I would definitely consider replacing your LCA, UCA, and rack bushings then if you've never done them

what does this mean? I just tossed in the driveshaft after I got one made and balanced from a local shop. 5" aluminum and greasable ujoints. I just zipped out the old, sawed off the bracket, and zipped in the new. How do I check u-Joint clocking?

okay. I will definitely look into those as well. I know the rack bushing has been on my radar for a little bit, but not necessarily the others.

If I can get all the parts in time, I'm going to go crazy on thursday and just see what I can get done and if anything works. I really appreciate all the ideas everyone. Keep em coming, i'm making a checklist.

    Things to test & research:
    Wheel Hubs
    Rear Drum "Roundness"
    LCA, UCA, "Rack" bushings.
    u-joint "clocking"
    cabin mounts

Clocked means both the u joints have to be lined up in a certain position, hopefully it will be marked where they need to be positioned. If you get them off where they are not both lined up it will cause a vibration. There is a youtube video you can watch and will explain it.

That might be a bit of a rabbit hole. He replaced his DS with a single piece one... Unless the manufacturer screwed up real bad, and welded the yokes on out of phase, I'm not sure it's possible...

My like "new" Wrangler's were my cullprit,,, bought and put on the trusty Michelins, new, problem solved. Pretty much only tire I run on all my vehicles. This was all done by discount tire,, 55 to 70 mph was the spot that got mine to shaking.

And sway bar bushings. All those things can be upgraded to polyurethane as well if you're up to it. The lower control arms can be tough so I recommend whiteline. Everything else can be energy suspension. Good things to do to tighten everything up overall too

Find a shop with a 2 post lift. Securely lift it. Run the speed up to where it shakes. That will tell you if if it is front or back.

Check the steering rack bushings. Have someone turn the wheel left and right as you watch the steering rack. If it moves a lot replace the rack or install energy suspension steering rack bushing kit.

Will they actually allow that? I could definitely see that having some good insight.

Hey all, I’m gonna give some stuff a whirl tomorrow, if weather permits. I’ll post back here with the results or at least if I get snowed out.

Edit: just found out how to use emojis:bananadance:
